I’d love to see the 250 tested with 275/70r18 (33.2”). They are taller and thinner than 285/70r17 (32.7”), with nearly the same sidewall. Could be interesting to see how they go, rather than defaulting to 17’s. 18’s are the future anyway due to larger brakes. Plus, more torque on ground vs 35’s. No mods needed to fit them.

If you think about it, a prado is more landcruiser than a 300 series. The prado is underpowered, slow and has design deficiencies which are all real landcruiser characteristics. The 300 is just too good for the LC badge.

@robotafflicition10 сағат бұрын
This sentiment is odd to me because here in the states the “prado 120” or the Lexus gx470 as we know it is known as kind of a weapon. Maybe the 4.7 Petrol V8 made up the difference. 😅
@keqrou8 сағат бұрын
@robotafflicition that's because you Americans have less of a stigma towards cars. If it works it works. Here in Australia there is a very large ego thing. Not to say I don't like it. I wouldn't trade Aussie car culture for the world.
@keqrou8 сағат бұрын
@macpreston no doubt you guys will make this thing a weapon. It's just there is definitely a element of modernisation=less capability in the new one. But that's the same will all cars now that I think about it😅
@robotafflicition11 сағат бұрын
I think this stuff is neat because here in the states we got the 60 and the 80 series and for years and years I thought that was just it for the Land Cruiser 😂 I almost bought a “Prado” one time but here it’s a Lexus GX470 with the petrol v8

I’ve had LNs and a Prado 90. Honestly, the 90 series punches well above its weight in flex and traction, but even in the early ones clearance was an issue. Seems that has only gotten worse over the years. They are not a real Land Cruiser, but the old ones will out wheel most modern ifs with same locker/ tyre setup.

The lexus gx550 is another option as few more upgrades and v6 engine buy for 130k, starting price, and top spec gx550 is 145k, is just a slight improvement over the fake lc aka prado but have driven one and still went with a gr sports 300 that has most things and twin locked.

In the usa the 250 prado comes as a turbo v6 petrol hybrid equivalent to 430hp i dont know why that can't be a Australian option.. if that was sold in Australia the everest would be so far behind, Toyota could take the market

Yeah that’s a shame ! We get the scraps the rest of the world doesn’t want 😅

Because it would cannabalise the flagship 300 series sales. Theres a reason Toyota Australia only have the smaller drivetrain so they have diversity in their model line up

So everything from the 100 series on isn't a Landcruiser?
@keqrou16 сағат бұрын
Ah yeah alrigh. So there goes 70% of the cruiser line😂 people diss IFS so much becausr they dont really know what they are doing and are too scared to touch their car get the rear end flexing right and an IFS will keep up with solid axles all day.
@ggbogo93514 сағат бұрын
@@jasonhenderson8604 That would be correct
@OutOfPocket-h9e14 сағат бұрын
Not really a fan of front solid axles, looks goofy when lifted, I get it has more flexibility and less maintenance than IFS but I like my ground clearance between my tires and better handling.
@keqrou8 сағат бұрын
@OutOfPocket-h9e yeah I mean there is no wrong answer. Put it this way, you give me a solid axle, I'll do the exact same track I do on an IFS. IFS is almost impossible to stay away from. Still got the solid rear axle for flex and yet far better handling. But solid axle is definitely better if you want to spend $8k and get a bulletproof tough track car and chuck some almost bold 37s on it. IFS when built right is very capable but definitely more expensive. To each their own man. Just one rule, no matter which one you own, have fun in it😁
