I appreciated your take on the IS-350 F-Sport. A special thanks to you for reviewing a rear-wheel driver version. Here's my take: I bought a new '23 IS 350 F-Sport with RWD, and the handling package. It's sort of a compromise buy in that my MK6 Golf-R is a manual ( the wife won't drive a manual), and it rides a bit too stiffly for my old bones. My wife drives a '05 Lexus ES-330, bought new. Impressive reliability, but not a lot of fun on curvy back roads., The car is very safe in that it will understeer at its' limits which works well with taking your foot off the accelerator. So on long trips my Golf would stay home because she can't share the driving. I chose the 350 over the Alfa Giulia, based on me not trusting the Alfa to get me to my destination reliably. I love how it drives, and it's 4-banger is quicker than the 350. Both have my desired front double-wishbone front suspension. Hooray for them! But the 350 also has both port, and direct fuel injection; said to keep the intake valves clean (at least) and to provide port fueling at lower power demands. No more turbocharged cars for me. I'll probably sell the Golf-R now. I like the induction noise the 350's V6 makes, even after I've turned the sound enhancing thing off. In Eco mode, the car pulls well, if you put your foot into it (not full throttle, but not weakly applying gas; a bit of gusto gets it off the line in urban driving. Best of all, for a 3800 pound car, it's quite agile, especially so in Sport+. But decent agility overall. I really like how the Torsen rear diff helps turn the car. It even has a smaller turning diameter than my Golf-R, and better fuel economy on the highway: (29mpg vs 24mpg) both on Premium.The only mods I've done is to tint the windows (black-on-black, and replace the sport summer tires with a good all-season tire, so I can drive it all year long. I learned to drive on a front-engine/rear wheel drive car. I've missed it, even living in SW Ohio where winters preclude summer tires (due to temperature limitations). Went through 3 MR2s, a couple of FWD hatchbacks, then a '02 Bugeye WRX, and finally a'13 Golf R. I've been driving the 350 most days. The wife says she'll try it out before July is over, though she didn't say which July of which year.😁 I've finally made peace with giving a wheel a dose of road rash. If it happens, I'll deal with it. Meanwhile we'll just go dancing around corners and curves, happily living by the old adage of "driving a slow car fast". Sort of like a 4-door Miata.😉

Holds it’s value, looks better then all of its competitors. Yes slower… but still had power when needed. Also can’t beat that reliability. (I’m not tracking this car, so I rather have the best looks daily for the price range)

My brother just traded his 23 Charger Scat Pack for a 24 IS500. The Charger had way too many problems. The Lexus was about the same price and is light years ahead in build quality and fit and finish. And yes the Lexus does have a touch screen for 24 and a screaming 5.0 V8.
@greendusk933 ай бұрын
Does it feel faster? Or about the same? I know they have power differences, but they also differ in weight. I'm curious.
@JCVACCARO3 ай бұрын
@@greendusk93 It's not as much torque off the line but screams at high rpm. It's not as loud but a cat back exhaust will fix that. The bad thing about the Lexus is the rear leg room. The Charger has more but for its size it's not all that. My opinion is the Lexus is far better made. I love Mopars but the quality of the Lexus is insane.
@JCVACCARO3 ай бұрын
@@greendusk93Also be aware that these Chargers have been sitting on the lots for a while. Have it checked especially the tires. My brother had 17000m on his. He had a bad starter, dash rattle that never got fixed, faulty infotainment screen and an oil pan leak. I have an 18 Challenger Hellcat and it's been flawless. If you're in the market for one I would suggest you buy a used 20 or 21. I would stay from a 22 23 as there's too many problems. And definitely look at the IS500.

I want to love this car but its too far behind the competition. This takes a second longer to get to 60mph, gets 10 mpg worse fuel economy, and its interior is feeling dated. I love the Toyota/Lexus reliability, but not enough to overlook its shortcomings.
@crazyKiLLAKid29D3 ай бұрын
The whole point is the charm of the NA V6 or NA V8 in the 500. This car will never compete in terms of numbers and it’s not trying to. As for the interior, I agree that the infotainment system could use an update and maybe some ambient lighting. But the quality, attention to detail and comfort outshine the lack of modernity IMO.

What cars do you recommend at almost the same price point? I'm kinda looking for a reliable and a little bit of fun to drive new car sedan and the IS 350 is the only thing I found so far.
@BakingThePoundcake3 ай бұрын
What I'm trying to say is this is the mid performance variant and the competition has better options. A single owner, low mileage BMW M340i or Audi S4 can be had for the same price or less. If Toyota would take a risk for once and put a turbo on it I'd have one in my garage!

So… we picked ours up today. Hmm. Yeah. I got the mid price spec, figured that would be more than enough tech for my wife to learn. Booked out at 52,000, first thing we noticed is it doesn’t come with panoramic backup camera. Not a deal breaker but thought that was odd seeing as how our 15’ NX had that option and it was a lower spec. Pulled into the driveway and was absolutely stunned that there was no garage door opener built in. Wait what! Also no memory seats, feels like they cheaped out on some options I felt should be standard on an f sport with the tech package. It has lane departure, blind spot monitoring, radar cruise and a host of other high end options. Kind of disappointing.

@BrosFOURRSpeed2 ай бұрын
Just going off what Lexus states, not that anyone is doing triple digit speeds in the city..
@andrerhoden46332 ай бұрын
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Yeah, what I should say, unless they cap the speed, or maybe after breaking it in, I don't know, but with some cars, they have the old-time speedometer, so you can actually see that it can go 160 miles an hour. But anyway, I don't really care about the speed, because in America, you can't hit 161 miles an hour on the highway. But even if the car's top speed was 25 miles an hour, 30 miles an hour, I would still buy it. Why? Because Lexus cars are really, really reliable, and that's what I like about Lexus. Lexus is the only car that I like, and I'm hoping to buy one one day. Very reliable car. They can outlive anybody.
@BrosFOURRSpeed2 ай бұрын
@@andrerhoden4633 just because the speedometer says a number, doesn’t mean that’s the top speed. This Lexus didn’t have a traditional speedometer either. My Audi R8 has a speedometer that shows 210, but it’s top speed is 185 or so. No car does the top speed that’s shown.
