I have an Opel (Vauxhall) Astra. I can't say it's a better car than a VW, but not far off. I buy used cars and Opels depriciate harder than VW's. Opel's aren't bad, but the perception of it has stuck. People's PERCEPTION of quality outranks actual quality. So If I buy a car new I would buy a VW (if I plan to sell it later). But used I would go for Opel.

The LS600h Royal Lounge cars are simply amazing...and I can afford those too. For you? I think a Phantom could be the perfect choice. @somewhat-similar in the scenario of a Rolls doing that kind of mileage, then I see where you are coming from. The RR Ghost represents superb valve for money as a second hand luxury barge due to them being launched over 14 years ago. I think they came out on a 59 plate. Not that expensive to service either. And, people will always let you out of a side road in a RR not so much if you are in a Taycan milkfloat! They are beautiful to drive, it's an event ever time, a real mile muncher in almost silence, due mainly to the glorious BMW V12 and a double bulkhead. My experience is that people love seeing them as they are still quite rare on UK roads. It's lovely to see some people waiving and putting their thumbs up at you. Comments like, "that is a beautiful car mate" or "Crikey! it's Alan Sugar"! Due to the power and torque and being rear wheel drive they eat rear tyres if you are not careful, can be tricky if mildly moist on the road! New Ghost Mk2 facelift is 4WD I think now, much needed. For what they are, they hold their money well in my humble opinion. A true future classic. If you want to be chauffeured, buy a Phantom, if you want to drive yourself, buy a Ghost. Good Video...

Comparing gas cars to electric ones in different segments is like comparing apples and oranges. Even if these two cars were in the same segment gas v. electric it doesn’t make sense. Gas and electric cars are two entirely separate different inventions, and we need to look at them that way if we are to more easily adopt electromobility. The days of gas and go are gone with electrics, at least for a while. Regen braking is a different style of driving. Respectfully, I dont think this comparison makes any sense. The only things in common these two cars have is that they are expensive and can go fast. But i did enjoy the review. You gave information about Ghost I didn’t know, and gave us a sense of what it’s like to drive one. ❤

If I had a spare thousand quid a week to keep the thing on the road, I might consider buying one. 😎

I bought two years ago a Genesis Electrified G80 which is a big luxury EV saloon. When I bought it, it cost around £80k, and it offers refined luxury. Tye Rolls makes a tempting alternative, except it wouldn't fit in my garage.

With the onset of technical obsolescence with EVs being a thing for a while (being outdated quicker than mechanical excellence) if it was my money, 70k on a stunning Rolls is where the smart money should be going. And in regards to the Porsche Taycan, even dealers aren't wanting used ones back as a trade in. So that's saying a lot to the market too, a Rolls Royce will have a market way after all the tech stuff is in landfill. Great video Jay, you should treat yourself to a Ghost.

Brilliant. How the hell did a Ghost and a Taycan become a comparison. Mad world. Great video.

Rolls Royce are missing a trick here. Why sunroof OR the starry night? Put the starry night in the blind for the roof

Maybe headroom concerns? Either way that's the kind of thing you could ask for at ordering.

Great video and enjoyable review. I once test drove an elderly RR from a slightly dodgy dealership in Croydon. I was absolutely smitten, but I was saving up for my first flat and the parts costs frightened me so I didn’t go for it. I reckon you should go for it if you can get in (and out if necessary) if it speaks to you that way! ❤

Easy decision James get yourself the Royce as you say permanent class they never date. Imagine flicking your curtains back and looking at that on your drive. Plus the excitement of deciding the model , colour trim that is very special. You only live once James make an executive decision go for it, sell your other baubles and go for permanent class. Champagne instead of prosecco, have I sold it to you? Great review by the way May need to watch a few times! More Royce cars please.

A few years ago while working via an agency and doing driving jobs, I would get an occasional job driving the agency boss in his Phantom, all over the country. Great times… One day a crappy old truck, the next, a new Phantom…😏💥 Fantastic. Get the Royce, James!😉🧐
@ozeskimanАй бұрын
Definitely, yes. Buy one. A relative bargain in the UK. After watching I jumped on the web. Cheapest Ghost in Australia is a 2010 model with 140,000kms on it. Asking £100,000.

Ghost is better looking than the Phantom, but trust me if you can find one, you should have a Ghost EWB. The experience of the rear passengers is sublime.

They are pretty rare in the UK, I think partly to do with the issues it would bring with parking the thing.

The cheapest Ghosts are roughly £50k for a 2010 car. Annual tax is £735. Who the hell wants to pay £735/ yr road tax? I won't on principle..And that's at the moment. Wait till the Government bangs it up next yr....😂

I wish I could buy a RR....but if I REALLY could, I'd buy rather a Phantom Coupe. Much more beautiful imho. The Wraith would come as a close second, then the Ghost II (maybe THE perfect Rolls Royce for me), and then a Ghost I, whatever the serie it would be. It's so nice to dream....

Geoff, it would be interesting to analyse the split of EV vs non-EV cars sold by Ford, Stellantis etc given the government mandate that sales must have a minimum of 22% EV cars per manufacturer. If not achieved manufacturers need to pay a £15,000 penalty per non-EV car sold, based on that 22% EV/ 78% fuel split.
@henriabsinthe3181Ай бұрын
Get rid of the Scuderia and buy the Rolls Royce. You would still have 2 fantastic Ferraris. Minimizing you will actually maximise.
