Beneath the surface the LC500 has a chassis with a higher torsional rigidity than their LFA supercar. With the "performance pack" rear wheel steer set-up this car can offer pin point precision as a true sports car. Don't be fooled by the Lexus badge and the priority for comfort. When driven fast this car is truly quick and even possibly faster than modern hot hatches. On the limit it is incredible. Then dial it back into comfort mode and yes, then you have a GT car. But please don't be mistaken, in my opinion this is a "luxury sports car" and well truly capable with modern sports car credentials. Well done to Lexus for this masterpiece, an absolute gem!

@@GearboxCarReviews Also a second cup-holder located near the passenger seat is needed. Fold-down rear seats too. Optional massage seats! Lexus must not listen to customer feedback or investigate other GT models which contain these features.Oh BTW, for all of those who eschew run-flat tires and prefer other types, since the LC 500 does not have a spare tire, run-flat tires are something that you do not want to be without on a road trip.

Great video, as an owner my word of warning to any potential buyer is check the front wings. They are made from aluminium and they corrode really badly, bubbling up and ruining the paint.
@edmundcharles52784 ай бұрын
Aluminum is a non-Ferris metal that does not form an iron oxide rust although it does oxidize with other materials!

Bit surprised as they should paint it properly
@CarsofGlasgow4 ай бұрын
@@edmundcharles5278 yeah its oxidisation that is occurring on the LC's. I have seen 3 this week with the same issue as mine. The paint bubbles up and Lexus wont do anything until there is a visible hole in the body work.

@@davidkeenan5989 My thoughts exactly, I never had this issue with my 2004 SC 430 but my 2018 LC 500 has corrosion. Either badly made or purely executed - which is a shame for a flagship model

@@GearboxCarReviews That square off area with the divider is dual cup holder. It is press vehicle so maybe the proper insert got removed.

@@GearboxCarReviews By the way, I have subscribed because I like the format of your review - i.e. the focus is the car, rather than you. Too many channels are going down the same route as Top Gear, thinking that trying to be funny and be a 'personality' is what it's all about - it's not. Car people want to hear about cars, without the comedy. Keep up the good work, man.
@GearboxCarReviews3 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, I think that style has a higher ceiling and more potential to reach a wider audience, unfortunately. People will tune in for the person, even if there's a car they care less about. I fear that potential buyers and the die-hards that want to learn everything about all the cars are a much smaller audience, but hopefully I'll be proven wrong. I'll certainly keep at it for as long as I can keep getting cars. Appreciate it! 🙌

This car is absolutely pointless with the V8 engine, because it’s not like it’s a fast car. All the V8 will do is consume too much fuel compared to the hybrid model. And the sound is just that, sound. The hybrid is the best version.
@GearboxCarReviewsАй бұрын
I see where you're coming from, but to me it's an emotional purchase and the auditory pleasure and the way a naturally-aspirated engine makes power are huge parts of the decision. I'd argue that if you want speed and comfort and efficiency, then an EV would fit the bill best, but I'm glad there are options out there for sure, so people that do care about the sound can get the V8 and people that don't can get the more efficient one.

I went into it thinking I'd feel that way too. I thought great looks, great sound, reliability, but I'll probably be bored. But I came away really enjoying it. If you want a true grand tourer that can just get in and drive, daily drive or road trip or whatever, it's just easy, it's comfortable, it handles well enough for what it is, and it really does sound great and it's great to look at. And in an age of turbos, it's always nice to have an NA V8. Plus the German competition is much pricier. I really think there's a market here beyond the Toyota/Lexus die-hards.
