Hello gentlemen. Good review on the 2024 Lexus TX 350. Lexus says the TX 350 is the replacement for the third row seating RX 350L. The prime reason for that according to their words is "the RX 350L wasn't roomy enough." The standard two row seating RX 350 will remain standing. That vehicle will not get replaced. As for the Lexus TX 350 I like the rugged look to it. The interior is spacious for seating as well as for storage. I also like the fact that the infotainment screen is a little larger and more importantly it's more integrated to the dashboard for a much cleaner seamless look. Like what was mentioned in this video Lexus should've placed a little more wood panels for the interior. I assume Lexus will probably include more wood panels for the two high trim level models TX 500H or TX 550H like what Jeep did with the Grand Cherokee L in the Summit and Summit Reserve trims. Months down the road it would be nice if a comparison video be done between the Jeep Grand Cherokee L from the Overland trim or higher and the Lexus TX in the middle trim or higher. Price points for the two vehicles from the middle trims or higher are almost the same. The length of both vehicles are almost the same as well with the Jeep Grand Cherokee L coming in at 204 inches and the Lexus TX coming in at 203 inches. One thing both vehicles have in common and isn't found on the other competitors is power folding the 3rd row seats in two ways from the cargo area as well as from the lower portion of the C pillars. The other competitors only from the cargo area the third row seats can get folded. Besides the Jeep Grand Cherokee L, it would be nice to see when the time comes that the Lexus TX in comparison videos against the Acura MDX and Infiniti QX60. Right outta the gate it'll beat those two vehicles in terms of overall space, storage and available powertrains. Well, good review on this vehicle, and I'm looking forward to seeing the drive video when Lexus allows it.

The crap consumers put up with to avoid purchasing minivans is hilarious. Almost no three-row SUV's have a truly comfy third row, and minivans get such good gas mileage. Pride over practicality is leading to development of some odd vehicles. $60k to $80k for unattractive 2-row SUV's with forced third rows lol.

Yeah Acura mdx has nothing to worry about unless the lack of touch screen is a deal breaker. Lexus has lost their luxury edge. Plain dash, plain looking seats, not enough color contrast in the cabin, not enough wood at all. Wood on the dash and steering wheel was a Lexus hallmark.

Different cars. For a family that only needs two rows with an occasional use third row, I think the MDX is the easy choice. For a family that really needs the big third row or extra cargo space, the Lexus makes more sense.

@@TheBjjones you can’t really brag on an acura lol. I mean the Integra is a Civic. They sell barely 4 vehicles, the same as Buick. The MDX is well done and so is this. Unfortunately for the MDX this has more power, room, features, tech and MPG. Acura doesn’t offer one hybrid and their EV is from GM. So I think it’s safe to say the TX will do well and the MDX will continue to do well no matter what you think it looks like. What we do know is the 500h and 500h+ has way more power and torque and mpg over the mdx type s they love to show on tv racing and in the desert drifting that no one does. And I think Motor Trend picked the RX 500h over the mdx type s in a recent comparo.

Lexus needed a large unibody three row crossover SUV, but what they did was just release a slightly larger RX called the RX-L. I find it so odd that Lexus was so ahead with its RX in 1997, that it took them 17 years to add another crossover in their lineup, the NX. Toyota-Lexus is a bit slow at introducing new models. In 2007, Lexus launched the new LX and GX, and they stayed the same for more than a decade and held their position in the lineup for 16 years. Rumors of the TX started to float around the Internet around 2020. Finally, Lexus has a proper unibody three row crossover. That was a long wait. The Lexus lineup does now have a compact crossover, the UX. Though they should add a sub-compact luxury crossover. Fortunately in Europe, they will be getting the LBX. But no word on its arrival in the US. Toyota and Lexus in the US don’t seem to be interested in bringing any cars using the TNGA-B platform to the States like the LBX and Yaris Cross. They’re missing out on the sub-compact market to compete with Hyundai Venue, Nissan Kicks, Audi Q3, and BMW X1. Though the reason might be that they don’t think a sub-compact in the US would sell well, so the smallest is TNGA-C, such as, C-HR, UX, and Corolla Cross. Personally, I just want Toyota and Lexus to stay competitive. It’s just an irony that they were so ahead in the late 90’s and early 2000’s with the RX, Rav4, and Highlander. Then they got complacent and took a long time to add more unibody SUV’s to the lineup. There was the Lexus HPX concept in 2003, it would use the GS’ platform. But it didn’t go into production. It’s interesting to point out that Lexus has gone the same direction as Infiniti and Acura’s strategy of platform sharing by borrowing from their mass-market models. The TX is based on TNGA-K, which is used on the Rav4 and Highlander. It is a platform for front-wheel drive and transverse mounted engine. Though customers won’t know the difference, as long as there’s a Lexus badge and its interior has leatherette and more sound deadening, I was expecting that Lexus would use a flagship Toyota platform fit for a Lexus like TNGA-L, formerly known as Toyota N platform. Now Lexus is mostly comprised of front-wheel drive based vehicles. There used to be a distinction from a Toyota sedan from a Lexus. The Toyotas would be front-wheel drive. And the Lexus’s would be on a premium rear-wheel drive platform, except for the Camry-based ES. So only the flagships use Toyota’s high end platforms, such as, the LS and LC. I see it as a way for them to cost-cut and maximize profits by consolidating as many of their models into a few platforms. Infiniti was ahead of using a rear-wheel drive platform on its FX and EX crossovers, so there was a distinction between a Nissan Murano and an Infiniti FX. Infiniti today now uses front-wheel drive on their new QX55, which replaced the EX. Acura has been platform sharing with Honda from day one, so it’s no surprise. The distinction is that Acura models use SH-AWD instead of Honda’s iVTM4, they’re very similar now, but the Acura is programmed to be rear-bias. In conclusion, Japanese automakers have simplified their production of their models by consolidating their luxury and mass-market vehicles into one or two front-wheel drive platforms in a way to lower costs and to ease their manufacturing. Since their brands have been established, they no longer have to constantly prove that they are a tangible luxury brand. They now only need to be luxurious in abstract. Genesis is the new luxury brand, and they’re trying hard to be a tangible luxury brand using rear-wheel drive platforms tuned and developed by former BMW engineer Albert Biermann. In an effort to match the Germans. The question is - will Genesis get complacent like Lexus and the other Japanese luxury brands in the future by switching their strategy to be an abstract luxury brand to cut costs?

Good reading, but there isn't any BMW DNA showing up any of Genesis' cars beyond the G70, which looks like it will be dropped soon. The rest of their cars aren't sporty in the least. I hear people say this about an ex BMW engineering working for Genesis, but they can't point to a single benefit of this so far. The reason why the Japanese are going cheap is because they aren't luxury car manufacturers, they're luxury car brands. There is a huge difference. Luxury cars are NOT the main focus or business of Toyota, Honda or Nissan and it shows. They were only able to match the Germans when the Germans sold a limited amount of models. Now that the Germans have filled every niche with something + a performance variant the Japanese don't have a prayer of matching them or even catching up. Lexus' RWD vehicles range from dated to laughably outdated and are totally un-competitive. Acura has never been a factor and Infiniti is on life support. Genesis is off to a great start, but lets see what happens.

Most of these third row vehicles look good from the second row up. A lot of these third row vehicles really have no room in the third row this vehicle included. It’s amazing how much this vehicle cost with no third row. The GMC Arcadia terrain seem to have a better third row than this high price vehicle.

It is the vehicle that Lexus needs for sure, but it is about 20 years late in developing, ceding a lot of ground to Acura and Infiniti in this space of the Japanese entrants, which was so strange to me. Nonetheless, latte moms will buy these in droves because it is a no-fuss vehicle that hauls the family. In terms of luxury, it remains disappointing to see the direction of Lexus interiors, primarily the expected upmarket feel of a luxury vehicle. This interior is functional, but comes across more "Toyota Platinum" than Lexus Luxury. It doesn't have that warm luxury appearance that Lexus once did well. Considering this vehicle occupies the same space as a Genesis GV80 and even non-premium vehicles like the Mazda CX-90 and Hyundai Palisade, this seems to be a step behind even those.
