Do you think there's a risk of higher variance initially since it's such a different construction?

No - I don't believe that there will be any more variation because the same manufacturing techniques are used and the new materials don't introduce additional variability. However, any time any company introduces a new construction, there is usually a period of refining cambers. I'm really satisfied with what I've seen from the starting quality and performance. But I anticipate that there will be refinement in the next seasons. That is always happening with all brands. But with new material it is usually a little more change early on.

A former university coach here in Anchorage seems to think that Madshus loose the strength of their camber pretty quickly. Agree or disagree?

so, the materials are basically still the same (core etc.), so burning the skis with iron will still be easy? :D

The core is what makes Madshus great but you can burn the bases if you don't wax correctly. True one-pass waxing and using more liquids so that you hotwax and scrape your bases less.
