your speeds at 27" from an efficiency stand point are much better than the speeds at 30". 27" , 350 grain @ 310 is 346 fps ibo 30" , 350 grain @ 334 fps is 340 ibo. I am 27.5" and am encouraged by this, bows are always normally less efficient at shorter draws.

Great unbiased review as usual!! I would give a little bit more on tunability... Yes mod specific are pain in the butt, but Mathews is the only bow that can go from 45 to 80 pounds without changing the limbs. And yes you need a bowpress to switch top hats, but they are aready a big improvement over simple shim system like Hoyts. Keep up your great work!!

@@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial Good points but I ordered an Rx8 after I shot one… Always been a Mathews fan but man I liked the draw cycle on the Hoyt!

Wild...The main reason I dont like Hoyt is because I feell like they draw hard in the beginning. I LOVED the Alpha X. Picked up a LIFT Tuesday. I felt the rollover was a bit harsher than my V3X29. I also have nerve/shoulder issues going on so it could be me. I agree the backwall is the best they have ever had.

One thing I have noticed is that generally speaking you can drop the Mathews down a few lbs lower than the Hoyts this year and still get the same speed.

My personal opinion is that it is a definite upgrade from the v3x. I shot the v3x for a year, and never really felt great with that bow.

Shot this bow today and loved it but it is very jumpy. I know you said the 29.5” is a great option for those who have a shorter draw length. Mine is 28.5”-29” so I’m almost to that in between mark I feel like between the 29.5” and the 33”. Could you give me your take on which one you would go with if you were in my shoes?
@tomshelly1
@tomshelly1 Жыл бұрын
Our draw lengths are the same. I’m coming from a 31.5 VXR (which I loved) and I chose the 29.5. I think the 33 would be a little clumsy in the whitetail woods. I think your decision rests on where and how you’ll use your bow.
@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial
@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial Жыл бұрын
Just my personal opinion, but depending on the type of hunting you are planning on doing would sway me one way or the other. The 33 will be more stable no doubt, but under 50yds in a hunting situation, I would chose the bow based on feel and less on extreme accuracy. Now at your draw length, if I were shooting targets or going out west on an elk or deer hunt where longer shots are likely, I would opt for the 33.
@chevyemert5655

It’s really not that much faster than the phase 4. I believe you got 279fps at 27 and 425 grain arrow. That was also with a biscuit. Using those specs because that’s close to my setup.
@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial
@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial Жыл бұрын
I definitely agree that the speed difference would not be a deciding factor to upgrade from the phase 4 to the lift.

Speed should be the VERY last thing on a bowhunters list of what a bow needs.

@@98blower17 certainly wouldn’t say speed is the last thing but I’m not insinuating it’s the most important either.

Still a smooth draw at 30"? I'm assuming your example draws were at 27
@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial
@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial Жыл бұрын
This bow seemed to have a better valley at 30" and the draw cycle seemed to stack about the same as it did at 27. With that said, it is hard for me to really get a feel for a bow at that long of a draw length.

Wait a 29.5 ata bow gets a 8/10 for shootability? You gave others a rating of 5/10 because they were short ATA’s. Hmmmm

The axle to axle is not the only measurement to take into account for shoot-ability. Also a 5 is not a bad score, just means that it’s middle of the road.

6/10 for $1200? You know how much machining us done on that riser? More work than any other bow on the market and theyre like $50 more expensive than last year and theres a boat load more new technology. A whole new setup for the most part plus everything has gone up the past 12 months as it has steadily been increasing. $1200 is nothing in comparision to whst theyre offering. Just the fact that thry offer switch weight mods should put them at the best overall price point of all flagship considering if you ask me lol.

I agree that you are getting a lot of bow for 1200, but that metric is purely about price of the bows.

Im not a mathews guy. But, how do you give an 8 to the lightest aluminum 29" bow ever to come out on the market, even lighter than the carbon bows. With peak performance on top of that. I mean if thats an 8 to you, can you give an example of a 10 please lol
@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial
@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial Жыл бұрын
The new lift is not the lightest aluminum to ever come to market. There have been quite a few lighter, just none that have such little felt vibration and that are this quiet.
@JH-hx2cl
@JH-hx2cl Жыл бұрын
@@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial Right, i guess im kind of judging based on reducing weight and maintaining or even improving on the actual performance/shootability/vibration. So your judging strictly based on lbs and nothing else is where your coming from? The freaky thing about this bow is they reduced all that weight and have great performance numbers at the same time, nothing was lost. Great videos brother.
@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial
@BuffaloCreekOutdoorsOfficial Жыл бұрын
Yes, the weight score is strictly that. Just based on overall weight. The other categories I believe cover how dead it is, and how well it shoots. I try not to give many 10s because I believe there is always room for improvement. But that said, this bow is awesome.

Not hating on hoyt there great bows but matthews is by far tha best on the market in my opinion..ive shot many tournaments and shot many different tournament and hunting hoyts and matthews and like i said no hoyt ive ever shot was even close to a matthews..

I think any of the top brand bows are so close to each other, that a lot of it comes down to personal preference in the choice of buying a new bow.
