thank you for these wonderful videos!! A year ago we spent a month with some friends in Maui, the trip of our lives, a few more years of waiting than you, (54), but the same passion, we really enjoyed seeing your passage through the same places we visited and I also had the lucky to meet my idol Robby, Cisco an incredible gentleman, Pascal and his histories, great trip, aloha from Argentina!!!

Best windsurf video I have seen for a looong time. Being 45 myself and have been windsurfing since I was 13 dreaming of Hawaii, reading magazines. So strange to see Francisco, haven’t seen him since some event many years ago. So cool you’re walking around checking stuff out, keep it up with all the details and please post more of this 😍👏

Oh man that was epic!! The entrance into Hookipa was just brilliant, that is exactly how I would do it!! and THEN Robby Naish just happens to be launching for a session.....it doesn't get any more iconic than that!! Now you've got gear, and you can try some Starboard Tack down the line!! Looking forward the next episode!!

After living on Maui from 1997 -2008 it's nice that you show a lot of places I have been. I used to work at the Maui Windsurf Company selling and renting out Goya.. so it was nice to see Fancisco, Keith and Pascal. Lot's of things havn't change ...some a lot... prices 😳, no sugarcane fields etc. Thanks so much and enjoy this magical island.

Thank you for taking us along on your journey! I live in the SF Bay Area, but I've never had the chance to visit Maui. Watching your vlog and seeing all the landmarks and windsurfing legends feels both real and surreal at the same time!

That must be so surreal. Meeting those legends, wow! I remember arriving in Bonaire a couple of years ago for the first time and meeting legends like Taty and Tonky Frans, Sarah Quita and standing on the beach I remember dreaming about from the old Windsurfing magazines. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Your behind the scenes view makes it so much more real and a joy to watch. Maui is definitely on the bucket list.

This series is going to be great. I remember watching Trade Winds in the 80's and thinking even back then that Fred Heywood had the perfect life, living on the beach windsurfing every day. After watching this it made me ask my missus if she wanted to visit Maui.

Superb, once again, Paul. Having had a similar experience of getting to Maui after decades of hope, you have captured the experience with perfection: landing at Kahului, seeing Paia, Ho'okipa, and, thank you for featuring it, The Cannery. Very Special

Paul Dunn here, Paul. That has to be one of the best videos I’ve ever watched ! You’re doing there what so many of us have dreamt of over our windsurfing careers. It looks amazing. Can’t wait to see episode 3 where I’m sure you’ll be out sailing at Kanaha. Are you going to sail Ho’okipa?

Wow, what a blast from the past - it has certainly developed a lot since 1995 when I was last there, visited the cannery many times finding gear (when it still looked like a cannery), stayed in the sleepy village of Paia and we all had hair!

Brings back memories from my windsurfing pilgrimage 6 years ago ! At my first visit of Hookipa I saw a foilsurfer going on the wave, and then he pumped himself back to sea ! First time ever I saw that, it felt like Jesus walking on the water but he was...Kai Lenny. Looking so much forward to your drone video's and vlogs ❤

Mate, we are of a similar age and I also started windsurfing in my teenage years. I visited Maui with my son just before COVID struck and it was an equally mystical/religious experience for me. For all the reasons you go mention. Enjoy the pilgrimage. Greetings from Gerroa.

Crazy how 99% of windsurfing enthusiasts will never be able economically wise to travel and sail at hookipa. This is crazy, 150 dollars for some basic grocery shop, in europe that would cost at max 40 euros. Such a shame that this sport now belongs only to people making more than 50k a year minimum. Most guys on tour are rich since they were born.. so we really don't have the best windsurfers in the world but the best rich guys that were able to do and afford this lifestyle.This is what killed windsurfing in my opinion. Thanks to Paul for letting us dream and see maui from his eyes.
@windsurfer
@windsurfer 2 ай бұрын
Many of the windsurfers aren’t rich but they make many sacrifices to be able to sail Maui. Many are sleeping on floors in houses and making cheap meals from Costco. But yes you are right….. you need money to buy windsurf gear and travel!
