No CVT. No turbo in the base engine. That’s what my mechanic recommends. Unless I want to give more money for more repairs down the road.
@amin47944 ай бұрын
Yup, this is exactly what had me sold. No turbo = less crowded engine bay and the elimination of another fail point. Regular 5/6 speed auto becoming more and more rare - instead newer cars are being equipped with CVT or 8+ speed autos. Your car is non-stop shifting with that many gears!

Ben Hardy: I've been watching these car reviews on KZbin for a few years now. I suggested that the presenter should begin the explanation video with opening the hood of the car and show the entire engine and give up the horsepower and other statistics about the power train. I like your videos because that's exactly what you do. #1. Engine #2. Transmission in the very beginning of the video. How cool.

I have this car with the preferred pkg (N/A). So far, 18000 miles on it. This is my 9th Mazda since 1987 amongst a bunch of cars and trucks. They keep me coming back. Surprisingly, this car loves to be pushed in the twisties. It's quite soft on normal drives, but I was impressed when pushing it given the type of vehicle it is. The handling and awd system are inspiring. I use non ethynol gas, and until adding a roof basket, when driven normal, I was getting 34-36 average mpg. 36-40 hwy. After the roof basket addition, mileage dropped to around 30 average, 34 hwy. The car was quite quiet until adding the roof basket as well. Im 6' and comfortable in it. I've had adults in the back that all said they were comfortable during a 200 mi drive. So don't always believe the critics. I've done several 12hr trips and find it comfortable. I always drive in "sport" or manual to keep the car in the right power/gear unless on the hwy. In normal transmission mode, the car wants to sip gas, so it seems to hunt for the gear it thinks you want. Sport eliminates that hunt, and is a much better driving experience. Sport also cancels out the cylinder deactivation, which I prefer. No real mpg difference in sport (assuming normal, non hwy driving). Be a driver. #zoomzoom

We have the cx30 turbo. Coming from Subaru. It’s like going to a luxury car from a vw bug. For the price ($32,00) it’s like a premium luxury car say a mid line Audi. 270 horsepower and it goes like stink!! The cross trek was so slow it was dangerous merging in heavy traffic. This thing is a rocket . Well made very nice interior. My only complaint is the interface to the media system is terrible. Finding the tire pressure is like doing a Seduko puzzle. This is my wife’s car. My car is a Porsche 911 GT3. The Mazda is so much fun to drive even when I just get out of my car. Does well in the snow also. Highly suggest the turbo version

First time driving one today, it's a loaner from a Ford/Mazda dealership. I drive a Van, I love my Van's, I'm not into all this modern stuff. A whole lot of buttons and knobs. I'm still trying to figure out how to turn on the radio. The map is very bright, I need to dim it but I cant find the knob or button that dose that. I'm 6,3, and it's difficult for me to get in it. My head is smashing into the door seal. It sits low! Very low, it is difficult to see at an intersection of the street I live on. Now I've been driving Van's since the 1970's and grew up in VW buses in the 1960's. Sitting higher up and being able to see traffic coming at you at intersections means a lot. This is a nice car... but I cant wait for my Van to be repaired.

Bought Preferred yesterday and probably too early to review, but what has stood out is the very hard break, too loud of a signal sound, and the annoying seatbelt sound. I will get used to those, but those stood out coming from HR-V. Ofcourse the pluses are the hp and even the legroom for driver. Because the electric seat adjusting and how I'm able to adjust it, I have more room than with older HR-V. I sit very far from the wheel. The kid fits in the back when I move the front seat forward. It's almost always just two of us, so not a problem.

@healthtraveljunkieАй бұрын
Also 6'3". Im interested in the CX30 for the same reason. The CX5 is bigger, but less headroom, as the car & seat is elevated higher off the ground. Thus CX5 is equally bad for tall guys as the CX3. CX30 seems like the only safe bet for tall men.

6' 4" and just bought a new CX-30 yesterday. Same conundrum. I liked the looks of the '3 better, especially the hatchback, but the higher ride height and easier ingress and egress of the CX-30 made my decision, worth the few thousand more. Still, this feels small and will take some adjusting to from my old '01 ML320, but I'm loving the improved steering feel and driving dynamics compare to the old car. Telescoping steering wheel helps a lot for us long-limbed folks.
