Compared with my 2021 CX-5 Signature, my 2024 CX-50 Turbo Premium is peppier (despite having the same engine), rides better (it takes bumps and potholes more in stride), and is quieter. The only thing I miss is the 360 cam (available only in the Turbo Premium Plus, which my dealer didn’t have). It would be wonderful if Mazda would make it available as an add-on accessory (at least a front cam). Aside from that, I couldn’t be happier with my CX-50!

I thought maybe the annoying seat belt chime was a response to IIHS' new seat belt reminder test criteria, but even their test is only looking for a chime after the car starts moving: "Visual and audible alerts should signal when a belt in the driver seat or occupied front passenger seat remains unfastened or is unbuckled while the vehicle is traveling 6 mph or faster. These alerts should begin within 30 seconds between 6 mph and 25 mph and within 2 seconds above 25 mph."

Brilliant! Thanks for bringing that up. Today I added the splash guards, "completing" the Apex option - without the platform. We have a Thule instead. Less noise. Lockable, more aerodynamic for the win. Just can't put a tent up there. Meh, we tend to hotel it anyway. In Canada the M.E. is the top trim so it has some cool features I wish my M.E. had - like a heated steering wheel (which comes free this summer :^( ).

I bought the 2024 Mazda CX-50 Turbo PP -- terracotta interior. The seatbelt chime and that wonky-crazy display stuff can easily be bypassed by buying a buckle extender on Amazon. It eliminated the chime! Like, $13 for two...perfect fit/looks OEM. And it makes it 10x easier to attach/detach the seatbelt (esp if you are on the thicker side, like me). Also, with the turbo...I run 91-octane (non ethanol) pump gas. For "full boogie" -- add some Lucas octane booster at fill up. It REALLY uncorks the turbo's power and makes this car run sweet.

@Josh-1798 ай бұрын
They aren't presuming to think they're in the luxury class. There's also a "premium" segment in between mainstream and luxury. There's brands like Buick and Acura that play in this more premium space. Mazda is still price competitive in the mainstream class while offering a more premium experience over competitors. They don't have a luxury division to protect as say Toyota does with Lexus. That's why Toyota's have cheaper interiors.
