30:18 Over the summer, I actually went to a musical called Willy’s Candy Spectacular at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It was a musical based on the Wonka Experience, written by Riki Lindhome and Kate Morocco (Garfunkel and Oates). The show actually had a crazy talented cast with the actual sad Oompa Loompa girl and the original Veruca Salt narrating it. Can’t forget The Unknown! It was crazy seeing a meme turned into a show within a year. It was hilarious. Just know Trevor that sad Oompa Loompa girl (Kirsty Patterson) did get her moment and in her Who’s Who, it said that her virality fueled her determination to pursue a career in theatre.

In Shayne’s defence, you probably do have a far higher chance of surviving a Great White encounter. If you’re near a Hippo, it’s going to try and kill you, whereas Great Whites encounter surfers DAILY and ignore them (there’s a great KZbin channel of a guy with a drone who films Great Whites off the coast of California and they often swim under or right next to surfers without the surfers even being aware) The other thing is that if you can see the Great White, it probably doesn’t want to eat you. Firstly, because Great Whites are ambush predators that swim under their targets and then torpedo at them at extremely high speeds, rather than just approaching at eye level, and secondly, because that Great White could see and smell you long before you could see it!

@@Gooner184 i agree to certain extent, but i do also think that geography also plays a massive part. as someone from ireland… i have to fly to a different country, book hotels etc. so it gets very expensive. whereas for those who live in america/snowy european countries, it is definitely way cheaper as there more local skiing locations. though being able to do it quite frequently requires a level of privilege (which i don’t have 😭).

I feel like that is paritally dependent on region. I live in Sweden so most people here has done some sort of skiing at least once. Through school, through a youth group, rental, even borrowing gear from the library. It's not free but generally within most peoples reach to have done at least once. 20:34 as a certified Ohio person, there were a couple things that factored into the decision with Harambe: 1) Tranquilizers aren’t effective immediately. They could not risk Harambe becoming frightened or angered, and hurt the kid in the time it’d take for the tranquilizers’s effects to kick in. 2) We anthropomorphize animals a lot, so it may have looked like Harambe was “helping” the kid out of the water, but he could’ve also been curious about the new thing that just fell in his enclosure. And it’s just too risky to wait to see if you think the animal has good intentions. 3) The animals can pick up on the vibes of the visitors. People obviously freaked out, which didn’t help the likelihood of Harambe staying calm. Idk I can’t help but feel bad for the zoo keepers. They put their heart into taking care of Harambe, only to be forced to put him down.

Commenting to join the very, very small internet club of "yes funny jokes, but actually--" when it comes to Harambe 😭 iirc, another factor-- Harambe was also a fairly young adult silverback, so unlike another situation where an older adult female gorilla did help a child, w Harambe there was really ZERO info to make the keepers think he wouldn't escalate. No "oh, he's doing the same thing he does with the young offspring in his group, so the threat is low", etc

I’m from Boston and Amanda HAS to be talking about Wachusett Mountain where truly people are FLYING by you while you’re flat on your ass praying that someone doesn’t kickflip your head off. It’s great. The hot cocoa at the lodge mid-run is big slay. Arguably worth the bruises you will acquire while getting there. 👍

In my free time I watched Smosh Reddit Stories on KZbin, but I liked the format so much that when I’m at work I listen to it in my earbuds on Spotify. The way that you all incorporate different people and we gain different insights on stories is what makes it so appealing. I just discovered smosh within the last 6 months through TikTok, and have listened to every Smosh Reddit story🖤

“No mercy” skiing stories literally unlocked crazy memories of school trips to the slopes. Third grade, no idea what I was doing, ski lift anxiety, no equipment other than snow pants and rented skis, friends moving on as you crash out and watch them leave. This is why I only snowshoe in the winter!

its a very different vibe from spencer and trevor - trevor is very unconfident with his jokes at times and seeks validation whereas spencer i think makes “out there” jokes for himself and without seeking that understanding from others- i think amanda picks up on trevors like “waiting for laughter” and she just picks on him a little haha

I never considered it before, but the "no mercy" attitude is so real. A few years ago I was skiing on fake snow and fell super hard, my knee got messed up & I couldn't get up on my own. A staff member of the ski hill happened to be by and was just so ruthless to me, cutting me down when I couldn't even stand up. It took him a bit to even offer me a hand to get up, it was such a shitty experience. I wasn't a completely new skier at the time but I didn't have a whole lot of time under my belt, I haven't skied since
