My ex was an extremely irresponsible parent, so i have experience with someone who was like the first Mom. If things are getting destroyed and kids are getting injured everytime the mom is alone with them, that says that she most likely ignores her kids when she is alone with them or they don't respect her. I think the message could've been delivered a lot nicer but there's nothing wrong with OP worrying about the safety of their nieces or nephews. the dog story always gets me as i was attacked by a dog twice as a child (in my face) and got plastic surgery at the age of 3 due to it. they literally stitched my ear lobe back on. there is ZERO chance even with dog trauma that i would run from a dog if children were getting attacked.
