@@TedwardDrives It may be because I have never actually driven a car with fake audio so my brain instantly recognizes that fake, video game, simulated sound. Ignoring the tone and sound profile of the noise, it lacks the variability and that slight randomness that you get from an engine. Maybe that's just my experience since I have really only driven 15+ year old EU diesels, which sound completely different in various conditions from cold to warm. It's not like when you press the throttle, the engine just gets louder with a deeper sound, it's the mix of the injector noise to exhaust and turbo and whatever else, all of which just gets lost in this fake sound. Perhaps putting a mic in the engine bay and playing that audio (processed of course), would be a different story?

This is a generally attractive car but I really think that peak modern Mercedes was 2015-2020. W222 S class, W213 e-class, original GT, etc. They all balanced very attractive interiors with smartly integrated tech and drivetrains that were not unnecessarily complicated (looking at you new c63).

@@Onboredatlast relatable. @DutchDukeMan like every other performance car. They all do this. It’s the trade off for a quiet cabin. The only one that does it physically using tubes is McLaren. Some even have a mic from the engine compartment linked to a sub woofer to make the cabin vibrate. Fake is a synthesized engine sound. Some cars even do this. But if you are a purist and this is a deal breaker for you can only go for a mid level sports car in the 100k range. Above that these tricks become common. I totally agree about making lighter sports cars with less technology. That's exactly why I recently bought a 991.1 911 instead of a newer one because of the NA engine, the weight (3120lbs, which I still wish was lower), and minimal tech. At least vehicles like that still exist if you're prepared to either spend an absurd amount of money or buy an older car like I did. I really thought hard about a Lotus Emira but there is nowhere to get that serviced where I live (in a rural area) and I didn't want that type of hassle in my life. As of right now I don't see myself buying a sports car newer than mid-2000s as a result of the increase in weight and the obsession with added technology.

If you get a 1st degree mark on something, you must be fixed until next checkup, if you get a 2nd degree mark you are only allowed to drive to the mechanic to fix it and 3rd degree, you are not even allowed to sit in the car, it getting towed to the mechanic.
