the engine does sound a bit strange with front open & seems to vibrate more than I would expect. I need to check with my older C300d and compare

true, I would never chose the huge display & even pay more for it & get all the reflections....it does not make sense.

hahaha terrible. design like an old Suzuki, the engine is louder than an old Opel car. Golf 7 has a quieter engine. People these days don't recognize quality... no wonder Mercedes is in trouble. RIP Mercedes.

We own a Golf 7 Wagon Diesel in our family and I already drove an E220d W213. I am sure the W214 is quieter than the predecessor. The Golfs aren't quiet.

Why does it seem to be very loud in cabin?

Most likely the microphone adjusts the sensitivity so that the volume stays constant. if it’s very loud like a concert it reduces the volume and other way around. It’s not representative of real life unless the microphone is calibrated.

I test drove one, it's super quiet. S-class quiet. Just microphone which auto adjusts.
