2024 Mercedes GLA 35 AMG - $73K Entry Level AMG Downtown Commute

I grew to really like the 2024 AMG GLA 35 this week. Sure it's massively overpriced, and looks like a toddler shoe, but it makes me smile. This is the last thing I expected to have "soul" but it's got a lil bit in there.

I had been in the A45s and the CLA45s and those 2.0T 4-Cylinder engines do have lots of power! And they are very fun! But the prices are high though, like 74K for a GLA... not even a GLC or even a GLB. 74K is very high!

Went on the configurator and fully loaded one of these just for fun and it came out to…wait for it…$80,075! Tbh I just don’t see the point of this when you can get a near fully equipped GLC300 for the low to mid 60’s. Hell, you could probably even get into a GLC43 for this tester’s price.

They start around 50k but fully specced can get really expensive. I think it’s a terrible value if you aren’t leasing it. Go buy a Golf R if you want an AWD hot hatch with an auto.

Why would you buy one of these over literally anything else? A small vehicle with an okay 4 cylinder and decent interior for 74k? X3 m40i with a good amount of options would be around the same price with much better performance and reliability, similar quality interior and more spacious.

I had an A35 which was around $53k in 2020. That was more of a value than this. Also back then in 2020 the 7 speed DCT was clunkier than this '24 GLA 35 where the transmission is the same as the CLA45. But wow what is that upshift sound. It's just horrible.

really nice review, love the content!! my mom’s 2021 AMG A 35 stickered for $57k, and that car, i think, looks way better, is probably a little bit faster, and probably handles a little bit better than this GLA 35. granted that was almost four years ago now, so inflation is definitely a thing. but still, over $70k? at that point i’d get a Volvo V60 Polestar Wagon, or even an Audi RS3, he’ll even a Golf R. and this is coming from someone who is a Mercedes fan. 🥴

Thanks super video love it .....Cyprus starting price is €62K. And with some small extras it comes to 65.5. I order mine but 19" wheels Michelin pilot sport 4S summer tyres .I hope will be smoother on road . I love this car size and all the packages and look .it's my personal preference of course and each of us can disagree .....I check before the Audi Q3 sportback 40tfsi and s cupra and x1m35 I prefer and choose the Gla35 ... The only one which makes difference to take is Porsche macan but price is way higher at €89k and for year 2024 is only electric ....what e mess . Sorry if my English are not and the best ...✌️
