Great review Wil 👍. I rode a Commencal Meta power sx in Queenstown, how would the One Sixty compare with a bike like that?

Thanks Sandy! I'm not too sure about the Commencal - we haven't been able to get a test bike since we reviewed the Meta TR four years ago, but would love to try out some of their e-MTB options. [Wil]

@FlowMountainBikeKZbin it was the race spec with RS Zeb, Super Deluxe, trp evo dh, magic Mary, big betty, was quite sporty for 165mm travel bike with plenty of pop. Didn't appreciate the extra 3-4 kgs compared to the Merida when the bike landed on top of me after a bad line choice and crushed a couple of ribs. I'd also be interested on how the one sixty compares against the Strive:On, not exactly apples and apples comparison but close enough and both compelling options for Aussie riders looking for long travel emtb
@FlowMountainBikeYouTube
@FlowMountainBikeYouTube Ай бұрын
Not ideal about the crushed ribs! That's a good call on the Strive:ON - really keen to try one of those out, and Canyon will be relaunching its e-MTB range in Australia in the near future so we should be able to get our hands on one! [Wil]

@@FlowMountainBikeKZbinhey Wil, why did Canyon pull their emtb's from the market in the first place? Was disappointed to find they aren't listed on the website!
@FlowMountainBikeYouTube
@FlowMountainBikeYouTube Ай бұрын
The previous courier service that Canyon was using meant that bikes would be shipped out of Germany to customers in Australia, and then the battery would come separately via road freight from a local warehouse. However, the timing of the two deliveries didn't always sync up, and the customer would also need to do some additional assembly to fit the battery. Not a huge problem, but still not ideal. Also, Canyon has added several new e-MTB models over the past 18 months that utilise different motor and battery brands. I suspect that added some complication to warehousing different battery types in the Australian warehouse. To resolve those issues, Canyon Oz has been in the process of switching to a different courier service that is insured for air-freighting large e-MTB batteries. This means that the bike will be able to be shipped with the battery already installed, directly to the consumer's door in Australia. It sounds like it's been quite a complicated and time-consuming process, though from what I understand, Canyon Oz isn't too far away from re-launching its e-MTB range in Australia - stay tuned to the Flow website for an announcement ;-) [Wil]

Completely different sport, and completely different manufacturing process. Plus MTB and EMTB at this price is giving you a bike that is equivalent to what pros are racing. Sure you can get a new 450 for 15-18k but a good A-Kit suspension is going to cost you a good 10k alone. I understand why you are coming to that conclusion but you're comparing apple to oranges. The profit margins on these bikes are a lot thinner than you probably think.

@@krisqz the amflow bike is RRP of 8499 pounds which works out to $17999 nzd... And none available to buy atm... And if when they get to market in NZ and Aus I would bet on them retailing for ~$19000 Nzd.. Plus no electronic shifting plus no 45km setting plus it's a 150 160 trail bike not a 170 174 Enduro bike... Lots of variables but end of the day I reckon both bikes are bloody nice pieces of kit..

Why not review the e160 400? then you could say its a common sight on aussie trails and the one that us non dentists are likely to ride that has the new Psylo fork.16 g is a ludicrous amount for a bike and if your dropping that much coin your likely not as bothered about finer details as you are boasting rights to having the most expensive bike at the trailhead

@FlowMountainBikeYouTube Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and for the feedback on the review Matt! Often with new bike releases there's only a limited range of stock available, which means we'll typically get our hands on whatever bike we can get the soonest. In this case Merida had a e160 10K for us in the right size, which we elected to review instead of waiting longer to get a different model. As you'll have gathered from most of our bike reviews, we typically avoid going into too much detail about the spec since most viewers won't be looking at buying that specific model. In the video I will list the spec, price and weight of the bike that we tested, but you won't hear a detailed report of every individual component because it isn't relevant for a lot of viewers. We'll only discuss parts on a test bike if they have a significant impact on the ride quality, good or bad. For this video I did discuss the tyres, the dropper post and headset, both for performance reasons but also because most of the e160 models feature those same components. However, the overall focus of our reviews is on the attributes that are shared throughout the model range. That includes the frame and suspension design, geometry, handling, and in the case of the e160, the motor and battery system. That way folks who are looking at a cheaper model can get a good idea of how the bike is going to ride based on our review. Hope that helps explain Matt, though just yell out if you've got any questions! [Wil]

@@FlowMountainBikeKZbin i appreciate the detailed reply Will.i was looking at the new e160 400(although for the life of me now its a 170mm travel rig it seems quite odd to continue to call it that!) BUT, even more confusing is ive seen the e160 400 on both the Merida sight and 99 bikes and it states on one its 160mm both front and rear yet states its 174mm rear 170mm front on the other.So im not even sure which it actually is.i live in perisher valley so cant just duck into the local shop and have a look for myself either.but hopefully this low end bike will get a review at some point as well,cheers

@mattweaver3632 you're looking at two different bikes. The last gen e160 is 150R and 160F, the new models are 174R 170F. If you look around, you can actually get the e160 675 for the same price as the RRP of the 400. I know my local has the 675 for $6499 which is the RRP of the 400 and comes with a much better spec. They sell the 875 for 7499 which is even better again; I rode the 875 teet mule and it rides very well, hides it weight well and was avery well specced for the money. Unfortunately it's hard to get reviews on even mid range spec bikes as companies typically send their highest spec for review purposes.

@grounddodger3212 99 bikes has the e160 400 for sale at 5500. It's the 2025 model with 174mm rear travel so same frame amd motor with lower spec components. I just want to see how it rides as I would consider one

@mattweaver3632 honestly for the spec difference, you are getting a lot more value at 6500 for the 675. I get it's more, but the brakes and suspension are a big step up.
