I want the best of all wireless mic systems setups: Two mics + a receiver; backup recording on board; 32-bit-float; easy connection to camera, action cam and phone; screw-down lavalier mic connection; easy on-mic screen to change settings and excellent quality. I'm hoping DJI will deliver this. I didn't love the Rode Wireless Go II setup because I was constantly missing recordings and the settings are challenging, so I'm not eager to jump back in with the Rode Wireless Pro.

I think it was Gotham Sound that also showed the Tentacle Sync OLED timebar at the show. Tentacle said it would be available by end of year, but still no sign of it. For those of us that use Tentacle, it’s a great addition!

Hey Wayne, I've just checked the DJI website, apparently the DJI Mic 2 will be released on 1/17/24. They have a teaser on their website. Hopefully it won't be very expensive and it will worth not having bought the DJI Mic. Pls do a video after 1/17/24 talking about your impressions on DJI's presentation. I really like your channel and the honesty that you put on your reviews. Cheers from France

Oops! I keep forgetting to upgrade the firmware on my Action 4 so I'll be ready for the DJI Mic 2. RE, your pricing comments, since the other big-name mfgs now all have mic charging box kits for their wireless mics, why aren't prices dropping due to competition? I would certainly like to see DJI Mic 2 announcements at a more realistic price since I have to purchase all my gear. I'm not happy with a new version coming out each year that mostly just fixes their bugs/omissions from the previous version.

This is my dream and hopeful things. I do think these are feasible. Ok, first a Babyface Pro in 32 bit float. It's doable. They need to do it. :D (continues below) Second, a better version of the RODE Videomic Go 2. Don't change the sound, just change the SPL to 145 DB or make it 32 bit float. I've tested a lot of USB mics and my opinion the Videomic Go 2 is probably the best sounding USB mic out there. But its major flaw is that it sort of distorts -- and I discovered the reason is that it has a low SPL but when you bring the mic closer to your mouth it overloads it. They can fix this. But RODE has a tendency to switch the sound of things in iterations. I don't want them to change the tonality of the mic, just give it more headroom, and the same with the RODE NTG. -- Third, not necessarily a game-changer but something very doable. SSL should make a 1 input version of their SSL2. Something much smaller and lighter than the SSL2 with just one input.-- Finally I'm also on board with Zoom products. Love their products. I use the F6 everyday and the F3 when traveling. And I can't wait to see what they have in store next.--

I bought my first action camera this month (Dec 2023) a DJI Osmo Action 4 and I bought my wife a GoPro Hero 12 as an early Xmas present because she has wanted a GoPro for the last couple of years, as an alternative to her Canon bridge camera. It's interesting how different content creators believe that the Sennheiser MKE 200 was made for their corner of the market. I bought it to be used on my APS-C cameras a Canon M50 II & Sony ZV-E10 or my MFT Olympus OM EM-10 or on a cage on my Sony ZV-E1 for which various creatives told me the MKE 200 was best suited. All are equipped with a 3.5mm jack plug like the Sennheiser and so it would appear that it fits in better with these cameras. I also own a Canon M200 which is often derided in APS-C circles because of its lack of a jack and has a USB C connection in its place. The more disabled I have become, the smaller my set up now is. I still like to use small handheld recorders like my Zoom H1n in 24 bit 48KHz which I can clamp to my mobility scooter for outside recording or a lavallier into my Rode Go IIs for dialogue and stitch audio & video/images together inside the PC with any synth sound track I compose. I know this might sound like the dark ages to some, but I try to ignore the arms race going on in KZbin that thinks the only way to go is Full Frame with a massive rig built around a cage dripping with tech for people with large biceps. I'm not made of money and I do this for fun in my leisure time and not for a living. I hope Santa places the tech you want under your Tree Wayne RECs. Always interesting to hear your thoughts. Keep up the good work.

What is there not to like about 32bit float? Super curious as to my understanding is it’s only an amazing thing!
