Okay now you making me wanna reread Homegoing. It WAS one of my first intros to historical fiction. I’ve had Bow Down sitting on my kindle for months 🤦🏾♀️ I’m ashamed

JAMES is my favorite book this year, I read it and then listened to the audio, also fantastic! I know this is a book I will re-read! I would recommend listening to ERASURE, especially if you have already seen American Fiction. Can they find a way for books to enter our brains by Osmosis!
@shelbeyandthebookclub4 ай бұрын
I haven’t seen American Fiction yet but will be reading Erasure before the year is up

I loved Homegoing, but I also read it in 2019 and it was one of my first historical fictions in a WHILE! I should re-read it 😂 And not you have a book club and I didn’t know 🤦🏾♀️ Edit: and Christina C. Jones, Love Belvin and Rilzy Adams can write a book!

Haven’t heard of The Blueprint-added to my TBR. Even though you didn’t like Homegoing, I’d give Transcendent Kingdom. It’s more contemporary and really different than Homegoing. Like what you said about Emezi’s writing (who I still haven’t read! Do you have a rec for which one to start with?). Yes, I’m definitely down for a video about erotica 😉. I have Ours from the library sitting on my dresser staring at me-Lord, so long! I feel you w waning books to be injected! I want to be able to inhale them or put into my brain while I’m sleeping 😂😂
@shelbeyandthebookclub4 ай бұрын
I don’t think Transcendent Kingdom being more contemporary is going to save how the story is told. The Death of Vivek Oji is a good starting place I think for Emezi’s work.

Omg thank you about speaking about reading journeys bc yooo some books that I use to eat up when I first started reading a year ago I don’t really enjoy anymore! At this point I need the book to be not repetitive, well written, and not predictable. Started with romance but really enjoying lit fic now idk

Im a new watcher and subscriber. Love your videos!! I appreciate your commentary on different levels of reading! I recently started dabbling in fantasy and find myself loving books that more experienced fantasy readers hate. My two favorite books this year are The Reformatory by Tananarive Due and A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams ❤
