If the San Antonio Spurs were to get both Nikola Topic and Zaccharie Risacher, they would win the draft. They would instantly fill two needs in getting a ball handler and a shooter. This would be the best-case scenario for the Spurs.

Yes spurs need to trade their other future FRPs to draft both
@dillamadukes21

The team needs a guard that can space the floor with shooting and create for himself and his team mates. Drafting a ball dominant guard that struggles to shoot from the perimeter addresses none of the needs of the team. Risacher will in all likelihood be a spot up shooter in the league. A role player. Hardly the sort of player you spend a lottery pick on. It's amazing the sorts of consensus ideas fans and "professional" speculators can come up with in a weak draft classes where there is no clear front runner blue chip prospects.

@@dillamadukes21 I respectfully disagree with your assessment. Topic is a terrific ball handler and his shooting will improve. Risacher is the shooter that the Spurs have lacked all season. It never ceases to amaze me the number of narcissistic trolls there are on these websites. This is not and overwhelming draft, but at the top, there are some talented players, including Topic and Risacher.

@@sarahmccoy1941There’s an irony in calling some guy on the internet a “narcissist” and a “troll” for not agreeing with your sports opinion. In MY OPINION, Risacher will be a spot up 3 point shooter. A role player. He may be a very good role player, still not the sort of player I’d use a lottery pick on. Nicola Topic is an average ball handler by any standard and we’ve already seen how guards who struggle to shoot fare in the league. Ben Simmons and Lonzo Ball are both better play makers, defenders and several magnitudes more athletic than this kid playing against human traffic cones in the Adriatic league. Not a lottery pick OR someone who would fit around Victor in an offence with already poor perimeter shooting. The wonderful thing about opinions is that’s all they are, in fact, opinions. Inconsequential ones at that, since neither of us are decision makers in the league. I’m sure the scouts and executives in the front office have a clearer idea of what their trying to build in San Antonio than any fan. I just have serious doubts that we’d draft a spot up shooter with a lottery pick. Or put a ball dominant, non factor from the perimeter next to our generational big.

My favorite part of this draft is how open it is. The easy number 1 pick for one person can drop to 6 or 7 for someone else, and drafting for fit is reasonable because there's no "best player available."

I commend you on drafting Castle to the Hornets. Probably the guy I want most as a Hornets fan. He’d come in and fit nicely in between Lamelo and Brandon & make all the plays necessary to win on both ends (especially defensively). If the shot comes along, he’s got some untapped potential I think he can easily unlock playing next to those 2

Topic & Risacher to SA would be perfect. I'd also settle for Dillingham + Salaun tbh. I think the Spurs have the competitive timeline (3-5 years) and perfect developmental environment to take the massive swing on Salaun. Hopefully OKC doesn't snag him.

Such a tough draft to gauge. It puts OKC which is temporarily at 12, and the Rockets at 8 in great positions. Trade down, up or reach for someone like Avijda who is approaching stardom. But if near 12 I go for Knecht who might be the best in the draft. In Sam I trust.

If the Spurs can get Chris Paul, I would pass on a PG until next year’s draft, which is deeper. Additionally, a lot of mock drafts have Dillingham to the Spurs, but he’s like Trae Young, who is mentioned as not a fit for the Wemby led team. Spurs want plus sized, defense first PG.

Unless Chris Paul is willing to accept a diminished role, I would pass on him. He is aging quickly, but still seems to see himself as a big time player. He could make a tremendous mentor for young players on the San Antonio team.

Derek! Great show! I do have a question. My focus is strictly on the Thunder and their needs moving forward. Size, rebounding, and a player capable of bringing that while maintaining the team's identity and I keep getting drawn to Tristan da Silva. The Ringer slated him a good fit and I haven't found anything to disagree. He can stretch the floor, make plays, good defensive instincts. I know he's a senior, but he seems to fit an immediate need. Thoughts?
@victorakwaowo7998
@victorakwaowo7998 3 ай бұрын
I'm not Derek, but even though I like da Silva I don't believe he's the right pick this early. If you're looking for size, rebounding and someone who still fits the team's identity someone like Kyle Filipowski would probably be a much better fit here. He's a good passer for his size, can rebound at a decent rate & has the ability to become a consistent 35-36% 3P shooter each season. He just seems like prototypical player that Presti would draft.
@derek-parker
@derek-parker 3 ай бұрын
Thanks, appreciate you watching! 100% think da Silva would be a good fit. Can do a little bit of everything and can fill several different roles. Acquiring a late first would probably be best case in snagging him, but OKC’s fully capable of that.

@@derek-parkerI picked up on something this week that may give some insight on Presti and Daigneault's thinking regarding the draft. They picked up on Jalen Williams watching video of Chet kicking the crap out of Dub's Santa Clara team and Dub never breaking from the game plan. Never losing focus and trying to play outside of himself or his team. Personally, I don't think Presti has accumulated draft picks to trade for some hypothetical magic trade for a final veteran piece to complete this team. I believe he is going to finish through the draft and use this glut of assets to maneuver himself to get the players that best fit their needs. Patience is a virtue and time is on Presti's side.

If Spur at 6 & 7, something wii be happening. Risacher and Topic are all good additions to Spur. But if Spur get Raptor's pick at 7, how about go for Magic's Isaac? This season Wemby is often defending two or more guys at same time, he needs some help. If Isaac joins us, we can play swishing defense on front court sooooo well. Plus, we can avoid Wemby losing stamina quickly. In my imagination, the trade would be like this: Spur gets: Issac + 2024 Magic's 1st round pick Magic gets: Raptor's pick + Malaki + maybe two 2st round picks. It's almost one pick exchange. Every team knows Magic's a ticking time bomb. They have too many bigmen, and too many rookies to extend contracts in few years. Including Banchero's Max. We can help them with pick for future talents, and Malaki for backup SG who can create his own shoot. That's what they lack in playoff this year. For Spur, No.6 pick + Isaac would be a sneaky -good move. We all know pop's great at developing offense in DEFENSIVE TALENTS.

@@Sjdhfjhdbd Thanks for your message!!! To have Jo Isaac plays for SAS would be a defensive powerhouse in the paint, provided that he remains healthy. After 904 days, he made his return for Magic this season. He played 58 games with 20mins per game. Consider his oft-injured history, that's not a bad signal. Although he isn't an average shooter, but if without him, Magic's defense would be too bad to win in playoff.

Neither of those players are being discussed as lottery picks in a stronger draft class.
