JD had dominant numbers in the SEC as a QB not playing for Bama or Georgia- Maye’s first year as a starter was great- his 2nd year was average based on the level of competition

Caleb I think so. For Maye, I think some of it is prospect fatigue, but I think most of it is people are just higher on Jayden Daniels. I think people just assumed Daniels was a great runner that would be a project when it comes to passing…but then you see the film and realize he’s probably already NFL ready as a passer.

It might just be because Daniels has much better tape than both of them. His processor is better, his footwork it better, his mechanics are better. He’s just not as talented as the other two in terms of ball velocity and off platform throws, which is why Caleb and Drake are better prospects

I don't know that he needs the "most coaching" but you arr right that he needs to clean up his footwork, Mahomes had the same issue coming out, NOT comparing him to Pat, just saying it isn't that difficult to clean up that part of his game. I so hope the Bears trade down 1 spot and let Washington take Caleb and the Bears take Drake. That is my dream scenerio as a Bears fan. 🐻⬇️ ✌️✝️

@@keithk1559 i meant more that I believe Caleb and Daniels have games that can succeed in a lesser situation, but I think drake will have to be insulated by a really good play caller and receivers to really shine. I think you are underrating Caleb by the way, he has gotten a lot of hate recently for stupid reasons and prospect fatigue but he is a very special prospect. Has an incredible arm, hes instinctual and a playmaker and doesnt throw picks. The bears are lucky to be getting him

Daniels is easily going to succeed in the NFL, but only if he is drafted by a team who has the top OL and WRs for him to work with. Too many times however you see him relying on his legs rather than waiting for a play to develop. He is an amazing runner, yet so was RG3 until his knee injury completely derailed his career. Drake Maye is a far better pocket prospect who can also run. Daniels is so much fun to watch, but sometimes being entertaining doesn’t lead to wins.

Jaydan Daniel's can't even read a defense. He had the best WR duo in college and only read one read and ran immediately when he felt pressure. He never threw in the middle of the field, and that's the maim spot you throw in the pros. He's not going to translate well unless he goes to a team looe the eagles, which isn't gonna happen

You may need to watch you some more Jayden tape cause your assessment of Maye is off. I know Adam peters is smart enough to see the epic clay that Maye is. That’s the pick that should be made within seconds of when Chicago makes their call.

Can someone at PFF explain why Maye is QB 2 over even Bo Nix for instance? On film, Maye misses so many throws, slow wind up release, misses reads but has great 'tools'. Bo Nix looks very quick at going through reads a la Drew Brees, with great ball placement and gets the ball out fast with a good arm. It seems as though Maye needs to sit for 2 years, so surely that is such a gamble that he develops positively? Seems like prime bust potential to my eye but I'd love to know your thoughts!

Bryce Young was the undersized QB who had the hype of winning the Heisman. Who does that sound like? CJ Stroud was the taller, bigger, prototype NFL QB. And if you compare his stats to Drake Maye in college they are exactly the same - 4,400~yds the 1st year, and 3,600~yds the 2nd year. Except Stroud had the better team around him, and Drake Maye had better legs with way more rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.

Why do they keep bring up that Tez Walker missed half the season and use that as an excuse for Maye? Tez only missed the first 4 games. He and Maye played together for 8 games! Not only that, the worst games Maye had were against bad teams toward the end of the year, e.g. Virginia, Clemson, and NC State.

Drake Maye is a PFF creation PERIOD. Now that the major draft analysts are seeing the tape, they all have him not even close. Simms has him 6th, firstroundmock has a day 2 grade, kiper a distant 3rd, orlofsky says he has to sit 2 years before he can play. Hoge does not have a first roung grade on him. The truth is coming out, and it’s glorious 😊

I was told by someone that Maye was a difference maker but JJ McCarthy wasn't because he threw for 30 to 40 times a game. Hmmm. So how did he make a difference. His team lost 7 of the last 9 games in the past two years. McCarthy's team lost once in two years. And McCarthy was playing at Michigan. A team where expectations are of winning a national championship. What are the expectations in regards to North Carolina or their quarterback? JD also had two 1st round WR to throw to. It's fine if you like JD better just don't bring up ONE stat to state your arguement. Maye made some bad decisions at times and part of the reason is he had to. If was just out there playing it safe all the time they wouldn't have scored nearly as much. When you are on a bad team yiu have to take some chances. I personally think he is going to be a better Pro than college QB and that happens sometimes.
