Excellent Review as always. Iam 77kg and intermediate in wing and my preferred ride is to surf lake/river/sea swell. Now using a kujira 1200 wich i love but i d like to go to a north setup.... i'm looking to for a front wing to ride Freeride and surf lake swell from 12 to 25 knots and sails from 6m to 3.5 m. Wich front wing You reccomend? I was thinking between HA1000ish or 900ish o sf 930 or 1080. Thanks! May for speed adding a ha 800ish

The SF series of front wings for this North Sonar system was a total game changer for me. The SF are so rippable to turn, you can stay right in the pocket of power on a wave, even in onshore wind-swell conditions like we get on the Great Lakes. This overall package that still provides crazy pump power, decent speed, with a shorter wingspan, all equates to a wing that’s easier to push critical turns, and ultimately more fun to ride, especially when you consider the ludicrously low stall speed that North’s engineers were able to achieve in this wing series. With this early rise / slower stall speed, I can now ride much smaller wings, which means less drag, more speed, and more control (to avoid breaching) with rapid accelerations on waves. I’m 200+ LBS, and initially I wasn’t even going to purchase the SF930. I’m so glad I was encouraged to do so. It has quickly become the only thing I ride in bigger swell. I’ll certainly be adding these two new smaller sizes to my quiver - the SF830 and SF680. I never thought I’d be riding foils this small and agile.

@@tomchenoweth glad to hear this excellent review from the 930. I am thinking to buy a sf930 too. Will it fly from from 12knots? Im 78kg intermediate AND love to surf small lake swells. A extra question. Dos you use a 60 or 70 fuselaje?
@matiasmalaccortoАй бұрын
Hello, excellent review. Wich fuselje you recommend for a sf930? 60 or 70? Iam intermediate por wing
@MACkiteboardingАй бұрын
For wing, I'd typically suggest the 650 or 700 fuse with a smaller, thinner tail. -Tucker

I currently work in a foil shop and have hold North and a major competitor next to each other. I was amazed that the north gear felt slightly stiffer than the other brand and I agree that it mainly sits in the connection to the fuse that creates the stiffness. the selection of wings isn't comparable to other brands but I think it's also for a different market. curious what will happen if North makes a High Modulus mast and keep improving their foil design. I still have to test the gear but it looks great. question, is the 215 dedicated for the SF regarding the stall-speed of the front wings? I heard it somewhere. And, can you cut off the tips?

any experiences s178 vs s185? is the 178 much speedier than the s185? looking for new stab to pair ist with my ha850.

Hi😊 Two questions: 1. Is the sonar system is also compatible with other boards like fanatic or duotone sky wing etc or does it not work well? 2. Which mast, carbon or aluminium is recommended for a heavy rider with ca 115 kgs ? Thx!
@MACkiteboarding4 ай бұрын
Yes, the sonar system will work with any two track system or m8 90x165mm bolt pattern. I'd suggest the Aluminum or HM carbon for you as a heavier rider. The normal carbon will not be stiff enough. -Tucker

Coming from an Armstrong setup (me 190lbs), wing 14-25kts. Current setup is HA1150, 85 mast, 60 fuse, 195 stabilizer. What North setup will get me the Armie performance mast, MA1000, 180 tail feel?

Will Duotone wings fit on the North fuselage? Both companies use the same mount right ?
@MACkiteboarding Жыл бұрын
No, they will not. Duotone and North are not associated anymore and there is no crossover on their foil parts.

Yeah, the foils are awesome, did they also come up with a Downwind foil, or which one of the current lines could be used for this?

I what about light wind winging topic with SF series? They positioned this as surf wing, but it seems like this might be good light wind solution with glide and low stall speed. What is the go to for 80 kilo with Loft 8m ?
@MACkiteboarding Жыл бұрын
Yes, the SF are fantastic for winging and light winds. They are incredibly efficient for their size and have a really forgiving low stall speed. -Tucker

Thanks for the Sonar deep dive! Couple of questions: 1) if I'm 73kg and winging on lakes and looking for a lightwind fw which SF would you recommend (930, 1080 or 1230)?.. at the same time I'd also like to surf on knee high windswell with 2.9m or 4.2m 2) can I run my s208 stab on the SF fw? Thanks !
@MACkiteboarding Жыл бұрын
Yes, the 208 is fantastic with the SF wings. I'd go 1080 with a normal board. If you have a DW board, the 930 is amazing. - Tucker
