Did you talk about the most important piece of equipment? Your piano!! Really do enjoy your KZbin lessons…especially the ones on how to count rhythms. Keep up the good work.

Haha...I did leave that out, didn't I? I figured the piano was a given. I shall return to my counting and tutorial content soon! Thanks for the comment :)

Amazing! Since I am also a church musician, I would love to hear more about the organ in your studio.

I'll plan on it! It is really a phenomenal instrument. I don't know if you know anything about Hauptwerk, but I actually gave up my Hauptwerk setup for this, and I couldn't be happier.

Thank you for the tour. You have quite the set up. Right now I am using just FaceTime to teach online. What I really would like is the ability to show forscore, along with the normal side angle view of myself. Is there a way to use OBS to stream into FaceTime? Thank you so much! I subscribed 😊

I wish I could use FaceTime! Unfortunately, it gives you no control for pretty much anything (including aspect ratio, as far as I can tell). I think FaceTime does see the OBS virtual camera, so it is technically possible. However, you can't really control how much of your window the student will see with FaceTime. For this and many other reasons, I still suggest using Zoom.

Awesome video!! So cool to see how your studio has evolved over time. I’m curious about your thoughts on using zoom over other platforms - what do you like or dislike about it? What are your backups to zoom? Also, what do you require/suggest as a setup of your students before they begin learning with you? I find that my biggest problem with online lessons in the internet connection and set up of my students. No matter how nice my set up is, if their internet is slow, or they have a set up that only lets me see half the piano from an odd angle, we won’t have the best quality lesson. What are your thoughts on this?

Hello Lusine! It sure has evolved! I still prefer Zoom because everyone knows it and it comes in the form of an application (rather than a website). Zoom actually has incredible audio when all parties reliably enable "original sound" and stereo when applicable. I actually have not had the need for backups. Zoom has had issues only on a tiny handful of occasions. I made a video a while back talking about what students need to study with me: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmXCfp-VhtVnmrs. The internet (particularly the upload speed) is super super important. If they are too far from their router, they will either need a really new device and great internet, or they will need to run an ethernet cable. I do a free consult because I want the opportunity to make sure these things are in place...otherwise, I can't accept the student. Hope that helps!

Thank you for this helpful video! Amazing equipment! What do you think about fortelessons? Is Zoom´s audio better?I have one online student, i can hear her better with Zoom, but she can hear me better with fortelessons.. quite strange! Thank you!

I am actually not sure. Since Zoom has been working so well, I haven't bothered testing anything else in quite a while. Did you have all the options checked in Zoom for your student? High fidelity music mode? Stereo (if applicable)? Original Sound? I do appreciate that many other dedicated music lesson platforms let you bypass all of these things.
