Thanks Zach for introducing me to the Aspen drive. I haven't bought a kilt because of the output, just put myself on the Aspen wait-list. I'm pretty excited about it. I haven't bought a new OD in about 15 years. I'm still rockin the Cmatmods Signa, Butah, and Brownie after all these years. They're so good, I've never found anything I've liked better. Always wanted a kilt though, but I like to push my amp a little with the output of my overdrives, mixing amp OD with a little bit of pedal OD.

I use the GX 100 direct to FOH and IEM for monitoring. Why do you have your wet effects before your drives? Wouldn't you go drives into front of amp modeler then to wet effects then to FOH if using it live?

Hey there! The signal chain is like this: Guitar > HX Stomp > HX Stomp dry effects (comp, trem, etc. > FX loop to my drives > TONEX > back to the Stomp. I've been curious about how people set their pedal sequence with the HX stomp and noticed that there doesnt seem to be an issue with noise? Does the HX stomp built in noise gate clean the signal well? Like, if I run a whammy into a compressor then into and overdrive and into the HX stomp input. I tend to use single coils and P90s at fairly high gain.

Great video. I've always found the overdrives/distortions on helix/hx stomp absolutely amazing , you should try some of them, you may ending with a smaller board or other possibilities 😉 like a reverb, or another tonex one for stereo.

This video was great and very informative! I run a very similar rig with analog drives, and the HX Stomp for wet effects with the ToneX One as my amp in the effects loop of the Stomp. I hadn’t considered using all my drives in the effects loop as well! My only thing is, I also use this board with live amps, and have presets saved in the Stomp that omit the effects loop block so I can bypass the ToneX. I guess my question for you is, do you think the way I have it set up currently is the best way to go about it considering I use the board for both DI and live amps? Additionally, I also have a wah, compressor, and EQ before all my drives and a volume pedal after. Thanks!

Hey great content. I’m new to Tonex platform, and just started diving into the “capture” world from the hx modeling world. I was having a hard time having my Double barrel sound good going into the Tonex. Do you find other captures to work better than others while using drive pedals? Thanks in advance.
@ZachBrobstMusic6 ай бұрын
Hey there! I found that depending on what pedals, captures, and pickups you use you may want to tweak the input trim on the TONEX as pushing the front of the TONEX will cause it to react in different ways. I've not found that captures respond too differently between setups but try adjusting the input trim and let me know if that helps!
@jstilesband476 ай бұрын
im on the fence about my pedalboard into toneX or just kemper stage on its own. this video makes a case for the toneX because you can add a pedal modeller in a simple and more linear way. do you find its apples vs different apple varieties between the two rig platforms or is this the way to go?
@ZachBrobstMusic6 ай бұрын
Hmmm. Good question - I think this was a fun side adventure for me from my Kemper Stage. The Kemper Stage feels more like an all in one solution and is just easier to have everything "play nice" together. I do think there is a big push for guitarists back into the pedal world and the TONEX is truly so versatile and still gives that flexibility on amp tones but then you can pair it up with effects. Not sure I answered your question but if I only had one rig I'd choose my Kemper
