I had an LT when they were first released, sold it after around 5 years or so, and went back to tube amps. Last year, got a Catalyst 100 and HX-Effects, then Helix Native. Now I want a Helix Floor; my track record of buying things late in the product lifecycle shortly before the new replacement version is released is second to none. For example, I purchased an Eventide H9; within two weeks or less the H90 was introduced. I've heard a few stories of people running out of DSP resources, but I never did with my my LT. FWIW, Helix Floor was released in 2015, so 9 years of the same hardware is giving me second thoughts on getting another Helix vs waiting for new hardware.

I’m contemplating a Novo but my biggest pet peeve w guitars is fret edges…and if they aren’t rolled well/enough. So your comments concern me because at this price point it’s a JOKE if the fret edges aren’t done well. But I haven’t heard this complaint from other Novo players…maybe yours is an outlier case…or maybe fret sprout happened during shipment.
@ZachBrobstMusic3 күн бұрын
I would say that the fret ends were never sharp. More so, I just would want them more rounded but after owning it for a year-ish I will say I’ve not had any issues with the frets!

Does the Stomp work with HX Edit? I saw the USB plug on the side. I’m looking for a backup to my Helix Floor for travel gigs. I’m always fearing the airlines losing my board on the way to the gig. This pedal should do the trick in an emergency.

Yes! It absolutely does. Only caveat is the Helix Floor lets you have up to 32 blocks vs. the Stomp only lets you have 8

I recently started playing guitar again after a long college and grad school hiatus. I have my old Fender Blues Deluxe tube amp, which has great clean tones, but I cannot get enough drive out of it. It is a 40-watt amp, and when the distortion becomes noticeable, the volume is way too loud for my apartment. Would the HX stomp be a good solution to this? Thanks.
@ZachBrobstMusic5 күн бұрын
Hey there! Having a digital amp is a great solution to the common tube amp problem of having to "crank it" to get it to sound how you want. I was a tube amp guy for years and haven't gone back in 7 years since switching. Tube amps do offer a ton of benefits but IMO digital solutions offer enough positives to outweigh tube amps today. The Stomp would be a great, simple digital solution for you. Albeit - it would not provide you with the same "plug & play" experience your tube amp does where you have in the room volume. You'd have to get an FRFR cab or powered speakers to listen live or simply plug in headphones.

just a shame tonex doesn't have any effects apart from reverb, because if I could have a delay that i can click on and off for solos without requiring another pedal that would be useful. as it is, it doesn't offer me any real functionality over my ampero 2

This video was great and very informative! I run a very similar rig with analog drives, and the HX Stomp for wet effects with the ToneX One as my amp in the effects loop of the Stomp. I hadn’t considered using all my drives in the effects loop as well! My only thing is, I also use this board with live amps, and have presets saved in the Stomp that omit the effects loop block so I can bypass the ToneX. I guess my question for you is, do you think the way I have it set up currently is the best way to go about it considering I use the board for both DI and live amps? Additionally, I also have a wah, compressor, and EQ before all my drives and a volume pedal after. Thanks!
@ZachBrobstMusic17 күн бұрын
Hey man! I think how you have it set up is fine but maybe you could get an A/BY pedal and run two different signal chains for when you run DI vs. when you run amps!

With the Pedalnetics footswitch in the Exp 1/2 - FS4/5 input, did you have to sacrifice using an expression, volume or wah pedal on the floor?
@ZachBrobstMusic19 күн бұрын
Yes you do have to sacrifice that. However, you can always use momentary of expression inputs via a stomp block and just by holding an effect can accomplish something similar. Ie. If I want to use an expression pedal to take my reverb from 30 to 60% mix, I can via just assigning the parameter to one of the footswitches!
