Went from a 2021 F350 to a 2020 megacab Ram. Both diesel. And the Ford is faster. But pulling, the Ram feels better. More stable and just feel more grounded. My wife even made the comment about the Ram just feeling better and safer than the Ford Not to mention much better braking power.. To clarify, I never felt unsafe in the Ford. But it's clear what tows better in regards of handling, power feel and hills. It's the Ram. Also the Ram is definitely more comfortable. I think going fast is just a boyish thinking. Men want to stop and control loads and take hills at comfortable speeds. I drove semi for 10 years and I definitly want safety over speedy pulling. Too many do that today....

I love my 23 Superduty HO. Its breaking in more. I like ford's buttons and all without having to go into the screen. I've gotten used to the ford. I like how the cameras comes one when he sensor is trip. I love the cab, getting great milage etc. Plus, I'll take as much power pulling he passes in CO as I can. My f350 rides better than my 21 3500 with air suspension. I've had three rams and this is my first Superduty and I'm not looking back.

Ram/Cummins didn’t test and engineer for drag racing lmao. The engineered for very low end torques that’s consistent. I can tell you personally if I had to haul a heavy trailer through the mountains I’d pick the Ram a 100 times over.

I’ve noticed as our 23 Ram is breaking in, the fuel mileage gets better and better. Up over 23 mpg on the last 120 mile round trip (mostly flat). A good video to make next might be a reliability comparison. This involves collecting data from other sources. I feel like the Ram 6.7/68rfe is tried and true. It isn’t going to break any records but It just works. The Powerstroke is definitely more powerful but several people I know with the last few model years are having reliability issues. They’re all maintenance freaks so I don’t think it neglect. Overall, I liked the value we got in our 23 2500 4d 4wd Tradesman. I love the vinyl seats (they look like leather to me) and the simplicity. A comparably equipped Powerstroke was $10k more. But arguably that Powerstroke is more capable… I just don’t need all of that power (and potential mechanical issues) for pulling a fairly light fifth wheel. The exhaust brake on the Ram is absolutely amazing. 2 cents.

Ram has good value. But id skip the 2500 for the 3500 with the h.o. with aisin transmission. Otherwise i don’t think its even very comparable to the ford/ bcuz the 68rfe is not the greatest in reliability with heavy towing.

I don’t care what anyone says. I had a 2023 Chevy 2500. It was a custom. The comfort compared to ram was not there. I had the Chevy for 7 months. Traded it for a ram 23. Yes I can tell the ram is definitely slower then the v8 Chevy but it’s definitely way more comfortable. I think it even drives better and has better turning radius. Can’t deny Chevy and fords v8s but it’s hard to beat that inline 6 and engine break on the ram. Yes ram definitely needs a redesign but as far as I’m concerned they still have the best interior 6 years in a row. Hopefully in 2025 they redesign and can take their first place throne back.

As far as being “dated”…….new only last until the ink on the paper dries. Kind of like the old adage “Beauty is only skin deep”! Reality is we here in the USA think we have to look good in front of a bunch of strangers. Buying something one doesn’t need with money they don’t have to impress people they don’t know. Had plenty of Fords over the years, got decent service out of most of them until the CP4 injection pump went south and parts were on national backorder. Had a tough time trusting one after that. Now have an ‘18 RAM 3500 DRW CTD HO w/ the AISIN and couldn’t be happier. It has absolutely no trouble doing the speed limit even with my 18000 pound triple axle Raptor in tow. Although I generally just set the cruise at 67-68 MPH and let ‘er chug. Doesn’t need a 10 speed transmission, exhaust braking is great. Actually feels more planted than the 350 Ford DRW did. But, to each their own. All three are pretty damn good trucks any more.

I’m a 45 year truck driver in New Zealand where hills are hills! That is where the Cummins stakes its claim with maximum payload consist! Uphill and downhill! These are trucks you’re talking about not race cars. Put a load on it and show your Fords and Chevrolets the headlights of a Cummins powered Ram and I’m sure you’ll find the Ram won’t be in the rear for long! And then show all 3 trucks a 15 percent gradient and see who’s the brakes glowing half way down the gradient and also who has used the most fuel.

I'm a heavy tower, that is 16 to 20K loads, and I move that weight with a 2015 3500 SO Cummins with 3:42s and a 68RFE. I must admit I've yet to see a person standing by my destination with a checkered flag but I always get to my destination without any drama. I'm perplexed why all these various comparisons (you and others) between the brands always focus on zero to whatever speed times. Hook them up to a 15K load and run up and down some mountain passes and do some flat towing in the desert. Then tell me which brand does the best in handling, braking, comfort, and MPG.

This. They use sports car standard to measure these truck’s capabilities. I’d like to see them hauling a skid full of cinder blocks along highways and hauling heaving trailers, which these trucks are meant to do. The Ram may be slower in its load less 0-60 but they knew that anyway. Where the Cummins shines is in its low-end torque.

THIS WHAT WE NEED!!!! I’m definitely thinking of getting a 4th gen Cummins for my business as well towing 12-15k. I’ve just been between the 2018 3500 or the F250 7.3L. Would like better MPG but same time I would like something that can be put to work and not stress on repairs every 30k miles . Have a 24’ Chevy 2500HD and it’s in the shop for 4-12 weeks and it only has 30th miles.

Not true for 23 and up. LED standard on lariat and XLT as an option. What is whack though is you can only get LED taillights on Platinum and higher now. That’s a weird place for Ford to have cut cost. The Ram Cummins has alway been designed to tow. It was never attended for racing. Great video. I think Ram should kill the standard output Cummings. Put the HO in all models along with a HD 8spd auto. Dodge did that back in 2005 I believe and got rid of a headache. It brings the cost down on the HO models because it becomes the normal motor and transmission.

I own a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 HD, the power numbers are exactly the same for torque as my truck and the horsepower is only like 25 more, I think you said 375 HP. That's sad, that's 12 yrs of the same power level. They're not the Dodge Ram trucks of the early and mid 2000's that brought the fight to the other 2 big manufacturers that earned them a place of respect. I have owned 4 Dodge Cummins 1999, I refuse to buy equipment from someone who doesn't try to continue to raise the bar in the diesel market. I buy a diesel not to virtue signal, but to actually use it pulling my work trailers with. Dodge also lost me when they dropped the "Dodge" name from their trucks, that SOB was a "Dodge" long before the "Ram" got added on. I'll never buy a "Ram", I'll go buy a brand X simply for that reason. Maybe why their beginning to lag so far behind in the truck wars. Great job on the video for the comparison!!

The Engine Brake is adjustable on Ford as well… can be higher than video test. Ram /Cummins has been top notch… hasn’t improved much last few years while emission systems have been getting heavier… this is another variable Ford seems to be advancing. i hope it is obvious to people here that such a short fuel economy test using the trucks computer means next to nothing. I know he can't take brand new trucks he doesnt own and do a full tank of similar driving but that is where you get some useful data. Brand new trucks that are not broken in at all will be different than those trucks at 20k miles. Cummins inline 6 leaves plenty of space for exhaust brake and why it will always outperform a V8 brake.

What’s next 600 horsepower 1500lbs of torque all the while still getting horrible fuel economy. They get good fuel mileage. My father has a 2022 with 6.7 diesel 10 speed max tow package. Good power we roll 33-35,000 lbs gross at 70 mph pretty easily . So yeah 10 speed makes that easily possible. The truck unloaded gets 20 mpg pretty easy. Light trailer can do 15 pretty easy as it does it effortlessly/doesn’t have to strain. I figure one with higher gearing (not 4:10) should get over 20 pretty easily. Pretty good i think my brothers 2008 f350 averages 16-17 highway for comparison.

I’ll just start with admitting I am 100% Ram fanboy. I have been driving them for 30 years now and love the trucks but, they definitely need to step it up. Their new so called 5th Gen is nothing but a 4th Gen with some lipstick. Why do they keep using that dang 68RFE! Get it out of there and get us a bulletproof 10 speed along with putting the HO in the 3/4 tons and we’ll own the market. Ram has had the best interior for years but still can’t put a panoramic sunroof in their heavy duty’s? As for the cab size though I am 6’3” and 350 lbs and find the cab is plenty roomy for even me. I’ll be sticking with my 16’ Ram 2500 until they do a complete redesign or I find myself over at the Ford store though I just really don’t want a truck with 55 gallon drums for headlights. Lets go Ram!

Same, I've had 3 of them. A 2008, 2011 and now a 2021. I love their interiors above Ford and Chevy. Ford is a close second though and I've just never been a fan of the Chevy interior. As far as the exterior of the 5th gen goes I think it looks amazing. You're spot on with those Ford headlights. They're huge! Plus I think the front end of Fords look like blocks. The 68RFE has been updated throughout the years and has gotten better but it is time for a new transmission in those. The 68 I had in my 2011 was still alive after 60% over injectors and an S465 for 3 years when I traded it in. I'd probably own a Ford this go around just for something different. But to find the equivalent trim to my 21 Laramie Night edition Ram was so much more expensive. Plus I know Rams well now. I know where everything is located under the hood and body.

The "crappy Chrysler" trans (68rfe) was co designed by GM & Ford. Chrysler was contracted to build them (they are ran in multiple brands). So I believe you're saying NO Way to the Ram because Ford & GM hasn't been able to design a trans the Cummins won't shred. And maybe Ram should not run them. The Aisin is a Toyota transmission for their commercial trucks. As a Ram owner of multiple HD trucks, it's all about the Cummins, not the badge. If they made a Tundra HD with the 6.7 Cummins it would be game over for the big three. Probably why we'll never seen one.

If you're buying a 7+thousand pound vehicle to win a drag race, you're doing it wrong. If you want reliability that tows without hesitation for as long as you want, you'd best get a Cummins imo. They don't put "ego strokes" or "duropax" in REAL big trucks for a reason...

I’ll take the Ram in-line 6 all day long over any V8. The only downside to the Cummings is it need a better transmission. You put a upgraded ZF 8spd with 3.73 gears or even 3.55 gears would make a world of difference.

Ford cant keep anything and just improve on it. Theres a reason the 5.9 cummins was kegendary in its time and the 6.7 now going since 2007 with improvement along the way and these engines just keep going! Most hot shot trucks are pulling in a Cummins. All big rigs are inline 6 for a reason. You want speed buy a sports car. You want towing power, reliability and that beautiful big rig spund get a cummins! Lets not forget he tested non HO cummins vs an HO powerstroke... thats 300ft lbs difference at minimum

Having put many a mile on both power-plants, commercially and privately, I’ll take the Cummins every time. @detla499 totally see your view after bad times with Ford. I've had all 3 Brands over years, and a new generation can have much improved results. The Ford 2023-24 SuperDuty is a nice improvement, the recently revamped 6.7 Stnd & HO is a huge improvement over older Navistar models. I've read pretty much equal negative stories on all 3 Brands... some similar, some unique... but all have had Buyer Drift due to "Brand" issues. I was a GM rock then moved to MoPar... IMO, the newer Fords hold the cards in this game of leap frog and a F450 will have my mark soon. Enjoy the Rams... great trucks!
