I have a 23 F250 Tremor 7.3. The 7.3 is absolutely perfect paired with the 4.30s. Power is always right there if you need it, and it pulls incredibly well. In 11k miles I am averaging 13mpg daily driving and get 8-9 pulling our travel trailer. If I stay under 72mph on the highway it’ll get 14.5-15 mpg. Pulled 12k lbs yesterday hauling an excavator and was impressed. I ran the numbers every way possible before buying this truck, and financially diesel just doesn’t make sense, especially here in NY where its $1.50 more per gallon. Unless you tow in excess of 15k lbs regularly save the money and get the gasser.

Carful towing that much once you hit 50-75k my dad and brother sold theirs after both experiencing lifter delam, my dad's transmission blew up after a downshift while towing heavy.

@@chaser9889 What years were their trucks? Well aware of the lifter issues but hoping Ford has the metallurgical issue ironed out by now. The 7.3 is a grand slam if they can make it as reliable as it should be on paper.

I'm in a '23 250 Tremor Lariat Ultimate 6.7 HO, and although I don't ever tow heavy, I do haul ~1000lbs of video production gear around on the daily. So, why do I need a deisel?...why do I even need an HD truck?...I don't. You know what though, I like it. There's something undeniably cool and satisfying about a 4-ton truck also being a hot rod AND having solid off-road chops. So, all of the yammering on in the comments about who "needs" a diesel or not...look, these are $100K trucks spec'd like mine is, and very VERY few people "need" that. We want them though, because they're all kinds of badass, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I did the math based on his results. Just gas alone, not including oil/fuel filter changes, you will need to drive the diesel 600,000 miles to break even if you got the base diesel. If you get the HO, you're at over 700,000 miles Wow

That’s going to depend on the local price of fuel. Right now in Utah there is a 27% difference in the price of diesel and gas, but nationally that’s closer to 21%. Where I live diesel is 7% more expensive right now. Towing also changes that number a lot.
@ZCalderone0823

@@denischenier6108 such an errelivant agruement. Put that 10-12k difference in nvidia or amd and when you sell it in 5 years it will have gained 700% so now you have 70k... mean while your 10k in your 5 year loan will cost you an additional $1,300 at 5%. Next.

For most folks now days the 7.3 with the right rear end is plenty of power. Sure if you are towing 20k+ all the time go with the diesel. But most folks will be served very well by the 7.3

I initially ordered a 2024 F350 with the 7.3L after being in diesel since back in the 1990’s. I did change my order to the 6.7 a couple weeks after ordering. I couldn’t get myself to change. I use my trucks on the farm so they are loaded down with parts and tools all the time and then tow on top of that cargo weight, that’s where a diesel earns and pays its way

Appreciate these reviews JB i like them because we younger people care about power and 0-60 because thats our language. Im a GM guy but if i ever have to spend 100k then why settle for less. The f350 platty Tremor is what i will get for many reasons. Its multi purpose. You can move yourself you can get groceries you can camp you can take long trips you can tow stuff etc. i went from small 4 bangers to v6s to v 8 from cars to trucks and ones always lacking something. And being a former car transporter i drove the limited ho f350 and that thing was nice. Salt lake was freezing and snowing and i got me a little massage on my lunch break while warming up in one and i knew this will most likely be it when the time comes. Not just that but the roads across America are pretty rough in some places and if you’re driving in winter theres nothing like a heavy truck thats off the ground with big tires not just for comfort but safety.

My F350 Lariat 7.3 is amazing. I am coming from a 5.9 cummins with a G56 so I have never had a crazy high torque diesel. All I can say is the only thing I miss is the exhaust brake. The 7.3 is amazing. 8-9 mpg towing my 12k lb 5th wheel at 70mph. Performs better than I expected! Also payload on mu srw is nuts!

You know it’s really a shame what the government has done to diesel engines. They have always been more finicky than gas engines, especially in cold weather, but with the new emissions systems (DEF and DPF in particular) they are just not worth it. It’s a system that is going to fail and it will leave you stranded. So I’m going to say the diesels are not worth it. And honestly even for a business or someone towing heavy. The gas trucks are now rated almost the same as the diesels and longevity is not really a problem. The gas engines will typically go 200,000 miles even in extreme conditions without many major problems. The diesel will too but odds are the emissions won’t. And I’ve always said the performance empty is so similar you have to have a timing system to tell the difference (or have them side by side). And this test showed that. And it’s the same for all brands. Loaded is another story but with how much lower the gas engines make now their loaded performance is a lot more like a 10 year old diesel than diesel fanboys want to admit lol.

Guys, remember the 7.3 is not super/turbocharged, no whipple etc whereas the diesel is. Can modify the 7.3 to varying levels from ~600HP to 1,300 HP! The whole delaminating issue w the 7.3 was first year. I have a 2022 with no issues. Also, look at Ford’s track record with diesels… enough said. Diesel is better at towing and hauling regularly, but unless you are truly working the truck, you don’t need diesel. Did anyone cover maintenance costs? Diesels are much more expensive to maintain. At the end of the day, get what you want.

Don't get me wrong I tested a 6.7 regular Powerstroke and was pretty impressed with it's insane power but I've always preferred a gasser and as biased as I'm gonna sound, I really enjoyed test driving the 7.3 it just feels more composed for me hence why I ordered an F-350 XLT Tremor. I really don't care much for the luxury add-ons the higher trims have I prefer simplicity with some attitude. Now, do I need an F-350? absolutely not. However, I've always favored HD trucks over their 1/2-ton counterparts because I know their built to handle work so I get that peace of mind it will get the job done easier.

I often town 800-1000 miles per week. I’ve been curious as to what the cost difference would be to operate the diesel under same conditions.

Can you look to see if the tremor gas trucks come with an M256 or M235 axle up in front? The M256 has a 10-bolt diff cover, but the M235 has 14-bolts. The M256 front was exclusive for Ford up until the '23 & '24 MY's, but rumor mill says certain models have it, yet nobody can pinpoint which one does.

Good video JB, I just bought a 2024 F250 Tremor diesel. What am I gonna haul with it? Not a damn thing, its my retirement gift to me. I realize how lucky I am to be able to do this but I've never owned a vehicle for less than 15 years. Would the 7.3 last this long, don't see why not unless the lifter issue rears its ugly head. It's not a daily driver I have a 2008 Tundra with 337k on it and a 2022 4Runner for that. I will say this, it was a boat load of money 85,415 well equipped 92,415 sticker probably the worst fiscal decision I've ever made. But ya know every time I get behind the wheel and especially when I mash that gas pedal and get pushed back into the seat......I can't get the smile off my face.
