Congratulations to Cillian Murphy, who also deserves the Oscar. Bradley Cooper can't win, because Maestro presents a distorted version of Bernstein, whose reputation is based on a false narrative from the sacred cow coverage in the press. I posted a new video on my KZbin channel titled THE BERNSTEIN EFFECT that explains the collateral damage he caused to the arts. I studied with one of his friends, Ivan Davis, who also performed with him. His stunts and scams were part of my education. He ruined the way symphonies and concertos are performed and his teachings eliminated the development of processing variables in bigger and bigger batches, which destroyed the intellectual development of conductors, pianists and composers. This ruined classical music as an art form and a business. Most of the classical recordings are now vanity records. I explain who's making the vanity records and who's paying for it.

Battle of the Stones for Best Actress might reflect last year with Lily Gladstone (being Michelle Yeoh) taking the trophy. Also, Cillian Murphy vs. Paul Giamatti looking like Michael Keaton vs. Eddie Redmayne, where Cillian Murphy is Eddie Redmayne (in a good way) and takes the trophy for Best Actor. Edit: everything above only applies when you look at the statistics. Yeoh (similar to Gladstone, even those she won the GG for Drama) won GG (Comedy or Musical) and SAG while Blanchett (in this case Stone, even though she won the GG for Comedy or Musical) won GG (Drama), CC, and BAFTA. Gladstone vs. Stone almost reflects that almost entirely. Meanwhile, Keaton (in this case Giamatti) won the GG (Comedy or Musical) and CC, while Redmayne (in this case Murphy) won the GG (Drama), SAG, and BAFTA.

I STRONGLY disagree with you guys when you suggested that Cillian won over Paul Giamatti just because it's a "biopic Oscar bait movie" and what the Oscars prefer in the Leading Best Actor winner category! Then why didn't they go for Bradley in Maestro or give the award to Austin for his BIG BOX OFFICE HIT in Elvis over Brendan Fraser for a far more obscure indie movie The Whale??? Yes there are many "overrated biopic movies and performances" that have been rewarded but Cillian in Oppenheimer (which is the highest grossing biopic ever and 2nd highest R rated movie of all time) SIMPLY isn't 1 of them and you are actually discrediting and disrespecting his work and immense responsibility of carrying such a behemoth of a film so gracefully! More often than not, The Oscars reward and recognize the far more "showier, louder, long monologue speeches" kind of performances so if Cillian and Lily win the Oscar for more "subtle, understated work" where their characters did not speak a lot or shout at all throughout the movie but most of the acting is through their eyes and subtle body movements only...well that's a remarkable achievement and shows that voters are nominating "against type or the trend" by not going for the showier, louder performances regardless of the genre of the movie!

I think many experts forgot that fellow actors respect Cillian a lot. People felt that Paul has been in the industry for so long and forgot that Cillian had been in the business too for decades and he is also well loved. Cillian is even well loved because of Peaky Blinders, yes its not an Emmy award winning series yet a lot of people and voters love this series. Cillian won because he truly gave one of the most amazing performances this year as playing Oppenheimer is truly challenging. I think most people were cheering for Paul because it played into their heartstrings same what I felt for Viggo at Greenbook. But SAG, BAFTA and Oscars would vote for whom they felt truly gave the best actor thats why Rami Malek won over Viggo. On the other hand, I can feel that Gladstone will win because of her narrative and her performance. Its not about who has the biggest nor the loudest role who will automatically win. Its not about the screentime, i mean Anthony Hopkins won for Silence of the Lambs. Even in 2019 when Glenn Close has more screentime over Olivia Colman who felt to me a supporting role because Rachel Weisz is the lead, still Colman won. I still believe that the industry and the academy voters will both give the wins to both Cillian and Lily especially we shouldn’t forget that Oscar members now are very diverse and has a lot of international voters.

Stats are there to be broken but not when there is the it girl of Hollywood delivering career best showy work in a bigger film and another highly raved performance In a major Oscar film with THAT NARRATIVE. Also Hüllers character is distant, cold sometimes with subtitles and other two are very likable in english. Good luck with that.

I think it’s disrespectful to both Cillian and Oppenheimer as a whole to just chalk it up to the Oscars’ obsession with biopics. Oppenheimer was by no means a generic biopic with its insane box office numbers, and Cillian’s performance was by no means an Oscar baity transformation. (If anything, Giamatti’s performance was more over the top, albeit still fantastic.) Oppenheimer is genuinely on par with some of the best Best Picture winners of the last two decades, and I predict it will stay evergreen that way. And Cillian’s performance won’t ever be one of those “Why did he win over that other guy?” situations.

I'm sorry but after watching Emma Stone in Poor Things, Lily's performance feels so so inferior. And can we put an end to this 'she's too young to win 2 nd oscar' shit? When you give a performance like Bella Baxter, you are bound to win everything. That transformation and growth. I haven't seen in a while from an actress. Fuck Gladstone', give Emma the Oscar is my opinion. Lily is just very lucky. She has Scorsese and DiCaprio, 2 biggest names in the industry, behind her campaigning. That's how in the first place she got the lead actress thing. She's clearly supporting and no matter how good she is, people need to own up to it. But lately Oscar has been giving narratives win more than talent. So yeah, maybe they will award Gladstone but truly, if we are talking talented performances it's between 3 to me: Stone Huller and Lee( Lee's subtle performance was way more impactful and humane to me than Gladstone. Just because Song is new and upcoming, Lee didn't get much recognition this year. But in true sense, her performance in Past Lives was a tour de force. And also Sandra Huller, I'm so happy. She also gave a breathtaking performance. Unfortunately, talents have to see narratives win.)

Lead Actress is almost exactly like last year. Blanchett had Globes (drama), Critics Choice, and BAFTA which is exactly what Emma Stone has, and Yeoh had Globes (comedy) and SAG which is what Gladstone has. The only difference though is Gladstone never received a BAFTA nom like Yeoh did. Could that give Emma Stone a higher chance at winning? Hard to say because BAFTA also went 0/6 in 2022 in matching any nomination with the Oscars for Lead Actress as well. Maybe this was just a SAG thing giving it to Gladstone since after all Killers of the Flower Moon managed to get an Ensemble nomination whereas Poor Things didn't. I still feel like Emma Stone could still win since the Academy doesn't seem to mind giving the same person another Oscar in the same category after a previous recent win (like Frances McDormand and Mahershala Ali).
@daniellepereira72557 ай бұрын
Other differences are that Yeoh had both diversity and veteran narratives behind her whereas Gladstone has only diversity, EEAAO was more popular than Tar whereas Poor Things is more popular than KOTFM, and Yeoh was clearly the lead of her movie. It's important for me to repeat these points to myself to keep the hope alive that Emma Stone will win on March 10th😅

I said early on that it would be her or Margot Robbie. Obviously Margot is not a thing anymore. Even when Emma started winning, I was hesitant to switch over to her.... it's a no brainer that she was winning BAFTA, even if Lily was nominated she still would have won that. So I don't really count that into the equation. I think Lily wins the Oscar... she's got the better narrative in the end, and Emma already has one.

Poor Things will win make up, production design and costume, Barbie will win song, Zone will win sound and international, Oppenheimer will win director, editing, actor and supporting actor, Killer will win actress, Holdovers will win supportinb actress.
