You can really tell that this voting body has changed, and that’s a great thing. Anatomy of a Fall would never have won Screenplay, and The Boy and the Heron would never have won Animated with the old Globes. They’d probably have picked Barbie for Comedy/Musical, too, in an attempt to make a “Barbenheimer” headline.

Here’s my thoughts on each winner: Drama Picture: Oppenheimer is the current front runner, and I don’t think it’s the same as POTD, Fabelmans, or Banshees, as it has way more passion than those three. Drama Actor: I think the actor race is Murphy v Giamatti now, Cooper really shouldn’t have lost here and it’s very hard to win with audience scores like Maestro. Drama Actress: Gladstone v Stone. Comedy Picture: doubt Poor Things wins Best Picture, but it’s easily top five. I saw some people say Barbie could win Best Picture, but with its performance here I don’t see it unless it wins PGA and SAG. Comedy Actor: like I said, I think the race is Murphy v Giamatti. Comedy Actress: Gladstone vs Stone Supporting Actor: RDJ seems like the front runner, but Gosling could still take it if he wins CC and SAG. Supporting Actress: Da’Vine’s Oscar is locked. Director: Nolan’s Oscar is locked. Screenplay: Anatomy is a serious threat for the Screenplay Oscar, since it could also take BAFTA. Animated Film: Spider-Verse is still likely taking it, since it has a good shot at CC, BAFTA, and PGA, but this shows it is a two-horse race. Non-English Film: With the Screenplay win and this, Anatomy is locked in for a Picture nom, despite not even being France’s submission for the Oscar. Score: Oppenheimer is the clear front runner for Score. Song: What Was I Made For is currently the front runner, though I’m Just Ken could still take CC.
@reeldeal322711 ай бұрын
Nicely done. Anatomy of a Fall, unfortunately, will not qualify for the "International Feature" category without a submission by the producing country, and is thus off of the Oscar short list (“The Taste of Things" made it for France). Should be interesting to see how many non-English films make the best picture top ten: Anatomy of a Fall, Zone of Interest (the de facto favorite for Oscar foreign film winner) and the partially-Korean-spoken Past Lives are my picks.

I marked out when Anatomy of a Fall won Best Screenplay. I really really hope she repeats at the Oscars. As much as all the winners at the Globes were solid choices I just don't want everyone sweeping. So hopefully SAG and BAFTA go their own way in a least 2-3 of the top 5-8 categories. It's sad AF that the Critic's Choice Awards are usually the Globes Part 2 but it would be nice if they did their own thing in at least 2-3 of their top 8 categories too.
