Listening to Will Joseph in this interview has really given me a good insight into team Lando and their thinking this season. Will was super quick to disagree with Tom Stellard re Andrea Stella role/promotion in the team (glad Ted came in and backed him up) and also weirdly decided to downplay the work of Kari Lammenranta who has been a important figure head of mclaren for so long. Almost unwilling to give Kari any praise incase that takes something away from Lando's final drive this season. Can't help but think there is still some bitterness on their side and some delusional belief that they could have be WDC had it not been for the teams decision rather than Lando's driving. Regardless, this is setting up 2025 to be a really exciting season!!

Glad Ted brought up Albon. He should have never been cut. If Red Bull had given him even a quarter of the chances they have given Checo, I have no doubt they’d be the champions right now. As was the Red Bull way at the time, they promoted him too soon, after promoting Gasly too soon, displayed zero patience, even as Albon managed to finish 8th in the WDC standings in 2019 despite only being in the Red Bull 9 out of 21 races. Then in 2020, despite multiple race incidents and a few mistakes, he still finished ahead of where Checo finished this year AND didn’t cost them nearly as much money. Despite being cut, he still supported the team as test/development driver, and served as a mentor to Yuki during his first season. Sure, this season wasn’t his finest, he made mistakes, but that doesn’t change the fact he should be in a top car based on the entirety of his performance over the years. He’s a naturally talented driver.

A car has a finite level of performance/speed/grip. Max got closer to 100% out of the car than Checo did (probably nearer to 65%). Max can't get 110% performance from a car, he can't alter the laws of physics/reality.

You can outperform the expected potential of the car by driving at a level where the lap times achieved are faster than what was believed to be possible for the car. This is what people mean when they say outperform the car, especially in today's racing when the amount of data available creates an accurate ceiling of what lap times are possible and then a driver puts in a performance which the data didn't indicate could be achieved. For me, Lewis' pole lap in Singapore is one of the best examples. When you leave mechanics, designers, analysts, and everyone else in F1 bewildered and scratching their heads as to how you got the lap time and performance out of the car, that is when you have outperformed the car - it doesn't mean literally taking the car beyond what is mechanically and physically possible.

The British bias idiots out in force again. Sky are a British broadcaster who have a duty of supply for their BRITISH viewers who pay a subscription. Lobby your own countries broadcasters to produce their own contents and feed. You think the Spanish broadcast isnt heavily biased towards Sainz and Alonso? The Italian's towards Ferrari?
