We found out why the Turbo skidoo is heavier than the turbo Polaris when the non turbos are the opposite. It’s because the Skidoo is a Competition package which is considerably heavier than a standard XRS due to bigger shocks, 2 ply track, extra bracing and bigger brakes. There is no directly comparable Polaris turbo and unfortunately there is no NON turbo competition package. So we have no way to directly compare a ski-doo turbo and non turbo to find out how much it actually adds to the sled.

Great video...thanks for weighing them all. It seems like the twin weights have pretty much been "the same" for years which is in that 520-580lb range full of fluids ready to ride. With the longer tracks, longer paddles and taller riding positions it seems like this is about as light as they can make them and not have chassis warranty issues. They tried to go super light weight with the 03 F-7 and it ended up being much heavier by its last year of production in 2006 because they had so many chassis cracking issues. I've weighed sleds over the years and when compared with a the 1994 T-cat (620lbs ready to ride), the 2000 121" ZRT 800 (620lbs ready to ride even with an extra heat exchanger in the rear of the tunnel) and a 2001 144" 1000cc mountain cat that weighs 640 lbs with only a little gas in it...the new sleds are lighter, make good hp for twins, have a better riding position (although you can add a bar riser and tall boss seat to an old sled and it improves it greatly), have longer tracks, longer lugs and more track behind the rider so better traction from a dead stop. Mountain sleds tend to be lighter but I believe that they have production sleds about as light as they can make them and still maintain structural integrity at a price point they can sell them. Sure you can go with carbon fiber ect...but that gets very expensive very quickly. Now it'd be interesting to take an older sled like a ZRT and put a 141" procross skid under it, a boss seat ect..and weigh it. :)

When I was a teenager I had a 1972 Polaris TX335...40 hp and only 345 lbs...what a blast that sled was! Why don't manufacturers build smaller light sleds is beyond my comprehension. the big thing missing in this to be a true riding weight comparison is the actual snow buildup. you need to run them through the snow for a half-hour or so and let the snow/ice cake on in the different nooks and crannies, then weigh them. some sleds are really good at not letting snow build up on them, and others will pack in a lot of snow in the track suspensions, heat exchangers and rails. this is where the true riding weight needs to be measured.

@@snowtrax day to day in varying conditions will play a part too... might need to do several weight tests and record them over the course of the riding season with differing snow and temps and get the average snow weights. Cold, dry sledding days will be different than melting, warm days.
@pavmentsurfer1311 ай бұрын
This isn’t a realistic option at all. EVERY ride will result in different levels of snow build up on every sled. It’s also not valid because people who ride in different places and in different conditions will get different weights. We would literally have to weight every sled after every ride while also noting every aspect of every ride. Even after all that, it STILL wouldn’t represent every rider in every condition. the ONLY fair way to weight sleds is exactly how we did it.

Any chance of doing the mountain sleds?
@snowtrax Жыл бұрын
We just don't get mtn sleds on our home turf because we are in flatland Ontario.

Like to see the weight of a 2024 Ski-Doo Expedition SE 900 Ace turbo R 20 inch wide 1.8 ice ripper 154 with included from factory cargo box.

Could you maybe weigh the MXZ Neo Neo+ MXZ 600 Sport..or Arctic Cat Blast or Yamaha Venom
@sppeders1 Жыл бұрын
they did a mxz neo plus last year... 495lbs
@snowtrax Жыл бұрын
We Would've included these, but we just don't have them in our fleet this season...YET.
@jacobmay7594 Жыл бұрын
Not a single Yamaha, even though they are stopping production. I always hear how heavy 4 stroke yamahas are from every 2 stroke owner like their 600etec is the lightest sled known to man.
@MrJeffyb69 Жыл бұрын
They didn't have a big enough gantry and chain fall to lift a Yamaha.🤣
@snowtrax Жыл бұрын
We haven't received our Yamaha sleds yet or we would've included them. Once they arrive I am positive AJ will do another weigh-in SPECIFICALLY for them.

In the spring weigh the 2023 XRS 850 with 10 inch display , smart shocks and ice ripper track weighed in at 651 the 2023 sidewinder LTX LE EPS weighed in at 667 that's only a 16 pond difference between the sidewinder and XRS 850

Electric start on the Polaris at the end???🤔🤔
@rickcollins7172 Жыл бұрын
Polaris VR1 turbo weighs the same as last year but the Skidoo 900r four stroke turbo is 17 lbs lighter than 850 xrs was last year? Your scales are screwy or you didn’t fill the gas tank on 900r
@rickcollins7172 Жыл бұрын
Actually I stand corrected, 900r is 21 lbs lighter than last years 850 xrs. Catalyst is lightest 600 so he says. Skidootrax is back
@dankoracing7326 Жыл бұрын
I would zero the scale prior to weighing the sleds with no strap tension. Then weigh all them and not zero every sled. Slight tension on scale can skew measurements 10-20 lbs easy.

Wat too in the tank for Ski-Doo. I have even spoke with a Ski-Doo dealer stating you can get these sleds too light and they just don’t feel planted.

Was the catalyst a 137 or 129
@chasf1066 Жыл бұрын
Unless I missed it you didn`t say how much gas was in each sled. Seeing the Polaris has a 12 gallon tank and the others are 9 gal. Food for thought LOL
@snowtrax Жыл бұрын
Yeah, we didn't go into the fuel capacities for each sled, which is something we could go into in the future for a more comprehensive weight-in. Reality is this is how they're rolling onto the snow for you each time you go for a rip. Manufacturers do the dry weight and we give you the real world wet weights. 🤷♂
@sportsman1776 Жыл бұрын
A Matryx fuel capacity is listed at 11.5 gallons, and REV Gen5 is listed at 9.5 gallons - which is about 12 pounds. 12 pounds I'd gladly accept on my Ski-Doos - I wish they had a bigger tank like Polaris.

Just include the mountain class, where the weight really matters!
@snowtrax Жыл бұрын
We don't have any mountain sleds. We're in flatland country here in Ontario.

You guys should weigh a 2004 ski doo elite just for fun
@snowtrax Жыл бұрын
If we had an Elite, someone would always be riding it and we'd never be able to get it on the scale! 😆
@pavmentsurfer1311 ай бұрын
We’d have to get a new scale. I don’t think the one we have is rated for that kind of beef.

Weigh one of those Electric Sled's please!
@snowtrax Жыл бұрын
If we get a Taiga, we will do this immediately. Will have to fill it up with electricity first though 😆
@mikeskidmore6754 Жыл бұрын
Seems some Skidoos have 10 gallon gas tanks and can go father on 10 gallons than other brands go on 12 gallons of gas.
@jerryculler6582 Жыл бұрын
Yes it says in your fleet but if you title this video 2024 weigh in then you should find a way to weigh all manufacturers even if one will unfortunately be leaving the market. Probably would surprise people to see actually the weight of the Yamaha and Yamaha/artic cat joint sleds be fair to all not exclude. Let it snow let it snow!!!!

Where are the mountain sleds?
@snowtrax Жыл бұрын
Probably in BC or someplace mountainous where they should be. We're in Ontario Canada. Mtn sleds are wasted here. When we test mountain sleds we're either in Montana or BC without a scale.

No weight on a Yamaha transporter lite or Arctic Cat blast 4000 lt? Wtf
@snowtrax Жыл бұрын
Very specific sleds to be angry about leaving out. For the record we do not have either of these sleds on hand.
