Its definitely worth it, made the 75 mile trip home a joy. Most dealers are the same, I'm still not satisfied. They are some other things that happened that I won't get into. It would be nice if they do an upgrade on the dash... it can be done, but doubt it will happen.

@@Yo-Ken After being out of town for a while, I finally got around to installing the DRL version of the cruise control. I'm sad to report that although every other switch functions as it is supposed to, the DRL switch does not. The low beam headlight still comes on when the ignition is turned on and the switch does not turn it off and run just the DRLs like in the EU and other market versions. Shame too because you can see the DRL indicator in the instrument cluster. The ECM and wiring harness have the same part numbers for all markets, but the instrument cluster has different part numbers for UK, US, Japanese, Canadian, California, and all-other-markets. Clever bastards. Anyway, hope you are enjoying your bike, Yo-Ken. Speed safely.

I have the Euro DRL version on order. I already have the non-DRL version, so if you’re interested in buying let me know. I ordered it because I want to run the DRLs without the lights being on during the day. I just think it’s looks kool. Funny how the Euro STR 765 RS has better turn signals and the DRLs are switchable, but not with the US version.

Hey mate, nice video. Im from New Zealand and recently picked up my brand new Rs in red color, wanted yellow but there was long waiting for it so ended up getting red. Sorry to hear abt the dealership issues. It’s different here in New Zealand. Dealers are responsible and they need to abide by the NZ consumer laws. My dealership experience was great, received bike with no issues. Received follow up call from dealer to see if everything going well. Thanks to ‘Experience Motorcycle’. Keep posting videos mate. Ride safe.

Thanks man... good to hear you had a good experience. Here in the States 90% of the dealers are more concerned about squeezing every dollar out of the customer. Giving a customer a good experience so he will be a long term customer doesn't seem to be a high priority. The dealer that I bought my bike from will never get my business again, and I will steer anyone who asks away from them. The only saving grace, the bike is amazing... easy to forget the poor dealer experience.

I recently had it installed by dealer while in winter storage. My only gripe is it looks like there is no resume function.
@Yo-Ken
@Yo-Ken 10 ай бұрын
It does have a resume feature. Once the cruise is activated, it can always resume speed again unless the bike is shut off. You see the letters RES next to the plus symbol. When the cruise is on, and you need to brake or pull the clutch in, the cruise will deactivate, but when you hit The RES top part of the button once it will resume speed.

I hear the critics of the tach. But when I have ever run hard I’m never looking at the dash tbh. You know what it’s at by sound. If you need to look at the tach then likely you aren’t even pushing it enough to have to look at it…

That's fine... Some riders are unicorns. I just think when you design a high performance motorcycle, it should come with a readable tach for us average riders. It looks like it was made for a video game, unlike the Speed Triple... now there is a tach you can read. Maybe someday I can be as good as you, but I still would like a readable tach :)

How are you finding the QS? On mine with still only 100 miles the upshifts occasionally feel like it doesn’t quite go in completely and feels a little notchy at the end of the shift (this of course happens quickly). And I’ve had a couple of clunky downshifts where if feels like the shift is in two phases almost with a pause in between, one with a really noticeable pause and didn’t seem to want to go in. All the reviews comment on it being butter smooth. Maybe they have some miles on them. Such an amazing bike, I’m paranoid a clunky shift is harming the transmission 😕
@Yo-Ken

Mine is very smooth up and down, I don't think you will hurt anything from the cluncking. Does it happen with a steady throttle or acceleratoring, and for the down shift... throttle off?

@LostPathfinderTB
@LostPathfinderTB Жыл бұрын
@@winstonthecuttlefish5352 Yes, headlights are always on for all motorcycles worldwide now, however, certain markets allow for Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) rather than the low or dipped beam to be on all the time. This is where the switches you mention come into play. North American market motorcycles have not had these switches equipped since mid-1978. I personally can attest to this because when I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath and bought a 1997 Yamaha YZF600R "Thundercat," it had a switch to turn the headlight to three positions; off/park/on. Several years later when I was stationed back stateside, a bought a 1998 YZF600R and it was not equipped with this headlight selector switch. The EU markets went to mandatory use of lights some time in the mid to late 2000s, but up until then, you could run them off during daylight if you wanted to. There is a similar reason why some manufacturers (Honda, Yamaha, Harley Davidson) still use their turn signals as running lights in the NA market but don't in the EU. During my second stint in the UK with my 1998, I got stopped several times by the police, wondering why my turn signals were "stuck on." They were cool once I told them it was an import. On the flip side, trying to get the 1997 UK bike imported to the US was a royal PITA. Eventually, I just sold it and elected to buy one here (which I still have). So, long story short, everyone's headlights are on, but some of you out there in the world still have the option to turn them off.

I can't believe the atrocious service you had from your dealership, if they don't rectify it to your satisfaction you should complain to Triumph headquarters, I had the first service on my RS done about four weeks ago and everything was done to perfection but that's why I've been with the same dealer for almost a decade, my first service cost 177 pounds ($220) do you mind me asking what it costs in the US. incidentally I'm with you 100% on the TFT, it's my only gripe on an otherwise great bike but I'm in my sixties and find it impossible to read the clock without glasses, IMO the "budget" TFT on the R also on the Tiger 660 and Trident is a better much clearer device.

I did email Triumph, but they sent me a standard form letter saying they have no control of what their dealers do. That was a little shocking to me, but it is what it is. I bought 3 new Triumphs in the past 4 years, it may be my last. I can understand dealers having poor customer service, but the company just blowing you off with a standard form letter... WOW. Anyway, the basic service for most brands is about $350 in the US. I do my own so its not an issue, if i had trust with a good dealer i might let them do it, but I like working on my bikes.
