Also there needs to be two or three guys right around the athlete and the apparatus to make sure the apparatus doesn’t randomly roll and hurt the athlete, (sooner than they are doing so) plus if Max had hit his head on the log, he could have gotten real jacked up. Maybe guys would not have caught him, but could have steadied him down and/or got the log out of the way.

@@daviesugo7641 He missed this lockout and got robbed on the 3rd dumbbell, if he had those 2 he would've won. It was really close. I'm not commenting on the squat because Hooper would've likely won that anyway on that setup even though Thor is the stronger squatter.

@@daviesugo7641In a 16 man show, it actually is very close. Thor missed this barely and got the dumbell but was disallowed the extra points because he didnt hold it for long enough at the top. Just stop, he could've made up a lot of points in both of those events and with his peak overhead numbers, could've possibly come top 3 in both and won the show. Not to mention he won 5 of the other events. It was a brilliant showing from Thor.

@@Adam-bw6dj I'm not saying it wasn't a brilliant show for Thor. Cause it was, but 9 points is the biggest difference between first and 2nd ever in the 5 years of shaw classic. It really wasn't that close. Thor was incredible, 25 points over third, but 9 points is not as close as you making it.

Your feet have to be stable to get the down signal. After he got the log over head he had to take a step forward to regain his balance and when he did that he got the down call. As for hooper his head was through, elbows were locked out and his body was upright I really don’t know what else you wanted him to do.

Is there weight classes for this stuff? I don't ever see 200 pound guys competing in these events. I lift heavy and would love to do some sort of comps, but there's no way I can put 300 pounds on my frame without being very unhealthily obese. And I definitely can't put enough muscle on to compete with these guys without taking massive amounts of steroids for a few years, which I refuse to do.

Don't know about America but there are a lot of weight-classed competitions in Europe. For men it's at least all the way down to -80kg and women it is all the way down to -64kg

Hope The Polish Terminator gets a wack at this event next time. Also, Evan got screwed in the deadlift. What kind of idiotic rule disqualifies a deadlift because the thumb supposedly isn’t touching enough. And the refs here definitely looked like they made him hold the press longer.

Either they do not know how to clean the weight, or they are now allowed to and in the latter why would you not be allowed to? Have you ever tried to clean a heavy axle thats about two times as thick as normal weightlifting bar while using mixed grip? They are allowed but it's just not possible in 99% of the cases. That's why they almost always do continental clean.

The mistake should be corrected by the contestants continuing where they left of. So with the failed axle. Doing it twice also takes a lot of the athletes.

That comment is unfair. Have you ever organized a complex event like a sports show, with thousands of different elements to juggle and time correctly? I have. It's easy to overlook a detail like that, especially when the bars are identical. I admire Shaw for coming out, explaining to the crowd and taking responsibility for it. It added an extra bit of entertainment to the show. It's wrong of you to accuse him of "lack of integrity." Where do you get off saying that?
