There is a weird sound when you accelerate from 30 km/hour, is that normal?

Up to 120 km/h it is ok, but even at 140 km/h the noise caused by the constant change of speed is tiring. In addition, Toyota has no soundproofing.

It depends on what type of rider you are. If you drive too "sporty" (full throttle, full brake, full throttle, full brake), then the Corolla is not the right car for you. If you ride quietly and smoothly, it is quiet and pleasant and not annoying. I drive the Corolla 2.0. At 130km/h it is 2100 rpm and it is quiet. It only gets loud when accelerating hard, but this lasts a maximum of 30 seconds, usually 5-10 seconds. In addition, every car with automatic becomes loud when you press hard on the accelerator pedal. What bothers many people is not the volume, but the fact that the engine speed remains the same until the end of acceleration. See above, maximum 30sec During "normal" driving, it is quiet and pleasant. It is a very nice and smooth start (e.g. at traffic lights). And when the car is driving electrically, it is very, very quiet. Take a test drive, preferably for 1 or 2 days.

I don't find it annoying, although I have the 2.0L, it's basically the same car. You hear the engine whine when you push it. i.e. overtake, or accelerate (even a little). When it's just steady driving, it's the same as a normal car. Fuel consumption is the same too, don't expect miracles. Below 50 mph, that's where you gain, sometimes quite a lot (city, suburban, country roads). I'm at 4.2-4.4L country roads driving eco, else it's more like 4.6-4.8L when you don't care. Still, not bad. City, it's below 4L.

City is empty, no traffic, would be better bigger one with more start/stop/traffic. In my city there are plenty taxi Corolla/Prius, I have ask few taxi drivers about the results and average is 6ltr/100km.

It's obviously filmed in Germany, plus it's a Euro spec corolla, NA cars are much cheaper inside without dual zone climate etc
