Great question, especially given this is gonna start in the mid 50s. If the new 4 runner is mid 40s maybe? 10k price bracket is how a lot of auto makers do it.

You should call them out. This is a 4 Runner that Toyota instead of pricing it as such decided to take it up market and call it a Land Cruiser Light. That is why the pricing is cheaper, it's a more expensive, what was supposed to be the 4 Runner. Look at the placement of the hoists, Fog lights, the suspension, the gate opening up, the gate struts, the tonneau cover, they are exactly in the same place as the current 4 Runner. The suspension and tires it's exactly the same too. Heck it's only 1 inch longer because it comes from where the current 4 Runner used to come, the Land Cruiser Prado. Again pricing, is ridiculously expensive for cloth seats and less tech, the 1958 Model would have been the 4 Runner SR5. Everyone say goodbye to the 4 Runner. I guess you need to keep to the script if you want to keep getting invited. But you should call them out.

This is not a direct replacement for the J200 Landcruiser. The replacement for that is the J300 which has been in the market for over 2 years now

That's the Land Cruiser Prado, not the bigger Land Cruiser that is sold globally. US market is always messing up the nameplates, like what they do with the HR-v which is actually the ZR-V globally

This car looks really cool and unlike most SUVs on the road. I think the retro-modern look is really cool too as it has worked really well for the Defender. Toyota is actually making some interesting designs with this car, and the new Prius. They are shedding their image of building boring cars

I dont think many of those making these videos understand what has happened. The original land cruiser 200 was stopped in the USA but not in the rest of the world. The 300 was debuted in all other parts of the world. The Land Cruiser Prado (the smaller version of the Land Crusier) was also sold all over the world except the USA. The Lexus GX460 was the Lexus version of the Prado. Essentially this new vehicle is the new Prado and will be sold as such in the rest of the world. However it (the Prado) will now be sold in the USA without the "Prado" name. So in summary the real Land Cruiser was discontinued in the USA and replaced with the smaller Prado (new version).

They can’t compete against each other, so my guess is that the 4Runner will come back as a direct competitor to the Wrangler & Bronco with removable roof & doors!

I've driven the outgoing Toyota Landruiser Prado/Lexus GX460 and the outgoing Landcruiser 200/Lexus LX570 and you cannot compare the build quality. The Landcruiser 200 series and Lexus LX570 are on a different planet compared to the Prado and the GX460. I wish they would bring the Landcruiser 300 series to the USA

At least all of them are made in Japan. yes ofc the 200/lx570 and the new 300/lx600 are going to be better built since David from automotive press said they are made in the Yoshiwara factory, which is a specialized factory for the flagship vehicles like the 300/lx600. but come on, the Tahara and now the Hino plants are where they will make the new gx550 and lc Prado 250. they still will be bulletproof vehicles as well and I can't wait to see them on the road and one day get one for myself.

We have a 2008 RAV4 with one owner 330,000+ miles. Great vehicle,V-6 is peppy. The problem with all Toyota models is as mentioned. I also am 6’4” and the legroom sucks. The RAV is my wife’s car and I only drive it when necessary because it is like torture.

Yeah so the 1958 sounds like it would be a “heritage” edition… which may imply that it’s a special trim. Naw. The 1958 is pretty much the base model. Then there’s the “Land Cruiser” trim, THEN the limited First Edition at the tippy top. 👍

@@muhammadaliclay8976 what one of the big reasons why nobody was buying the V-8 land cruisers was because it was priced starting at around $80,000 and up. For a Land Cruiser this size, they could’ve gone with a V6 normal aspirated engine. Those turbo charged in-line fours have to operate at such a high pressures that the wheel break much sooner.

Emission standards make it harder for them to keep using naturally aspirated engines. It’s either they use turbos and hybrid, or pay the millions in fines and pass it on to you.

Good design but I am little surprised why they didnt preserve the classic fender shape. Land rover defender designs are very modern but they still kept the classic fender shapes. This current boxy/octagonal fender shape from the land cruiser looks good also but I prefer the classic look of the 3 sided fenders.
