I get that we've become accustomed to paying absurd prices for some vehicles, but the fact Toyota can ask $80k+ for what is essentially a very basic vehicle still floors me!

It's not Toyoto's fault though. There simple isn't any competition in this segment. Nothing is stopping nissan, mitsi, mazda or even any euro manufacture to offer a ruggen single/duel cab ute with a decent motor and solid axle front. 100% they're over priced.

It looks like the gearbox is quite interesting, it can set that long ratio distance to be short-spaced in 4th gear and remotely spaced in 5th gear

I was considering the GXL wagon and am not concerned with the 2.8 engine, but the new bonnet and the gap above the mudguards to support the higher bonnet is a deal breaker for me.

I was recently in the market for a new ute, and booked a test drive in the new model. As soon as I saw the external mirrors and the still narrower rear axle, i cancelled. I believe Toyota are just taking the mickey. No sale.

This one is confusing. I love the Landcruiser. Own one. My daily driver. Want to like this. But can't. This one is a dual cab anyway. Which to me as a work truck is pointless. I need the tray space and load capacity. Not kid space. It is automatic. Not at any price. The cabin is strange. They have left the old set up. Then tried to incorporate parts bin additions. It doesn't look new. It doesn't look retro. It just doesn't work. Then this engine. When I open my bonnet there is enough space around the engine to hold a dance. How can a 4 cylinder take up so much room. Like all modern engines, designed to not be worked on. And way more to go wrong. Lots more electrics. Computers. Emissions crap. Longevity questionable. All this in the name of emission control. If only politicians didn't all wear blinkers. Very little is being done to lower global emissions. The biggest polluters carry on regardless. Or buy green credits to offset emissions. Which is a joke scheme in its self. But they pick on transport. One tiny segment. And this class of vehicle is one tiny percentage of global emissions. Make everyone blow fresh air. Saving as a whole almost insignificant. Who gets to pick up the bill. The consumer. Ridiculous price vehicles to save the planet. But only in politicians dreams.
