I like the new Prius, but hate the thought of dealing with sleazy, arrogant Toyota dealerships. It's always an awful, soul-sucking experience. I also have come to like the extra ground clearance & elevated seating/viewing position that a Crossover like my 2022 Mazda CX-30 offers. Hard to go back to low-sitting, low-clearance sedans/hatches after owning/driving even a small crossover.

Ben, for a comprehensive review, you should point out the negatives too like listed on here. Aldo add in steering wheel blocks the instrument panel which is a safety issue. Lots of positives like you stated, but a fair number of negatives. The sloped rear also affected cargo capacity compared to previous Prius.
@danielhuffman9 ай бұрын
I’ve owned one since March. I haven’t had any issues with the driver display’s placement, definitely isn’t a safety issue.
@michaelsheedy9 ай бұрын
@@danielhuffman Just about every auto reviewer has complained that no matter how they adjusted the steering wheel, it blocked the view of the digital instrument panel which is very small. That is a safety issue just like Tesla that puts everything on huge screen to the right of drivers central vision. The severely raked, thick A pillar further compresses outward vision on the Prius. And ingress and egress is further compromised, especially for tall drivers. AGAIN, form over function.
@danielhuffman9 ай бұрын
@@michaelsheedyThat’s fine that reviewers who spend a day with the car haven’t adjusted to it, but as someone who owns one and was concerned about it at first, it’s a non-issue. I found a good steering wheel/seat position in a couple minutes and haven’t had an issue since. The A-pillar does impede visibility, that’s true, but having owned other cars with the same issue, it doesn’t phase me.

We waited 21 months for our 2024 Prime (a 2022 was ordered). Only good thing about the wait was that we ended-up with a 2024. Not sure if he was joking but, the Sales Rep. told us had we ordered our car on the day we got ours, the wait would be three years. Since the introduction of the 5fh Gen. I have only seen three other Prises "on the road", and two at the dealership. And, our local dealer is one of the largest by volume in our country. I might add; I've seen every colour except black. We asked for a red car (I wanted the Guardian Grey but the 2 person committee won-out ((as per usual)). Someone at Toyota arsed-up things and we wound-up with the Pearl hue. Never so glad about a SNAFU. The Pearl is the definitive colour. The colour looks white from a distance. However, stick your face very close to the sheet-metal, the car is like a pearl from an oyster.

@TomLawlor-iq6gm2 ай бұрын
Aaaah, all of the trims have the same 195 tires. The Prime SE (LE in The US), has 195-60-17"s. The higher trims have 195-50-19's. The ride in our 2024 Prime well exceeds that of the other two Prius cars we owned. And, BTW, you can't buy a white Prius. If you get the chance, stick your face in close to the paint on the "white" Prius on a bright day. It's not white, it really is the same colour as a pearl from an oyster. Because, our Prius Prime cost us over $20,000 less. After 6,000Km we have used less than 1.5 tanks of gas. If we had a Tesla and it needed repair here (and that will happen). You have two choices; fly-in a technician from (at least), 1,400Km away, or, trailer the car for ten hours by road, followed by an 8 hour boat ride, followed by another 5 hours trailering. Then go to your hotel. All on our dime. If our Prime "fails to proceed" the dealer, who is ten minutes away, furnishes a tow-truck. For free.
