Hey Hungry, Good honest review here, even if I don't agree with some of your opinions with the car. Like with most things in life, it's impossible to please everyone. Guess that's why there are so many vehicle choices around us. And that's a good thing I hope you agree. If I may; the 2023 redesign is the fifth generation Prius, however as someone else mentioned, in Japan it might be the sixth. My wife and me just got our 2024 Prius Prime two months ago (after a 21 month wait !) and it's our third Prius but, first PHEV. Our first one was a Gen 3. and it performed flawlessly for four years. We always got 4.5 Litres Per 100Km (that's 52+ MPG) over its service life. And, that was over 16 years ago. The styling of it ?. Either one "gets" the reasons for its odd shape, or they don't. In either event, technically, the car was superb. The leg room out back was unrivalled in its class. By the time the lease ended our circumstances had changed. Our daughter went away to school and we lost our 175lb Newfoundland Dog. So we didn't need a full size Prius any more, we opted for the Model C Prius. I don't think it was ever offered in The US. It looks a lot like a Toyota Yaris. Compared to our first Prius it was quite basic but, very, very functional. Strangely, at half the size of the first one, it still returned the same 4.5 L/ph100Km. It had more cargo room than our new 2024 Prime. Now, gas here runs close to $7.00 a gallon. After 12 years with the C it was time to move on. Then, in 2023 Toyota did their up-do. We sized-up the cost of the Prime against a regular Prius (in Canada, the Prime costs $6,000 more), and thought it was worth it. The Prime can be charged at home for less than $2.00 and that gets you 50+ Miles. The same distance in Hybrid Mode (here), would cost you close to $7.00 because you'd be using gas/electric. Another thing with the Prime is the extra HP. Together, the motors and engine total 220hp. That's double the 4th Gen Prime and results in a 0-60 time around 6.5 seconds (faster than a 67 V8 Camaro), Today, I was driving home on a byway. The road has a 70Kph limit (40+ Mph), and some arse-hole was riding my ass in a Ram diesel trying to push me faster. We all know the type. I was in Adaptive Cruise Mode so when we came upon a slow moving backhoe the sensors slowed the Prime (without the brake lights coming on), the Ram person hit his brakes hard. I'm sure he's mulling-over how I slowed down sans lights. Anyway, seconds later there was a break in traffic and I indicated then floored the peddle. The Prime went to 110Kph in about 2 seconds (the electric motors give instant torque), and the Ram idiot keep way behind after that. We love this car already. Got close to 90Km on one charge today. Oh, also had you taken off one of the plastic hub-caps on your test car you'd have found a surprise. Usually, when a car lands with plastic wheel covers the rims behind are the cheapest pressed steel rims you can find. Not so with the Prime, you'll find nice alloy rims. Weird. Keep up the good work.

Bro I’m telling you!! I got a paid off 2017 Prius with 240,000 miles and zero issues. I been car shopping and yet again I keep coming back to the Prius! I once had a coworker tell me that I would never own a different car and so far it may be the case… 😂😂😂😂

The DRL headlight option won’t turn on the taillight until it’s dark out at least that’s how my 2016 does it and the reason for the button release fuel door is because there is a regulation with fuel vapor being constrained and since the engine on the Prius doesn’t come on all the time it constrain the fuel vapor with some electronic thingy so it activates when you push the button. Good video by the way I got a Prius a month ago for food delivery and it’s great for that that’s probably why the door stays open at any position since delivery drivers gotta park and get in and out of the car all the time😊

I don’t know man. It was dark out when my friend noticed my taillights weren’t on. I mean, it’s okay I guess. Some cars are just still going to have manual lights. 🤷🏽♂️ Lol. The fuel door kinda makes sense, but there are so many cars out there that don’t have locked fuel doors.

@@TheHungryRoad yeah I have a Prius 4 so it’s a bit loaded and that’s probably why it has auto lights and yeah this is my first car with a locked fuel door, I low key like it tough no one can access it but me.

Love your presentation & sense of humor!! 😂 I’m not sure if this will be my model choice yet… not thrilled about the lights… why couldn’t they make it simple lol.. & yes the wheel in the way of the components would bother me too & no back wiper.. thank you for honesty

Thank you very much! I appreciate that. Have you considered a 4xe Jeep that plugs in and can go 24 miles on a charge? I’ve reviewed one of those on my channel. Highly consider it if you don’t want to give up your Jeep way of life, but want to save on gas.

The 3rd gen had such cool features. It was ahead of its time. The new Prius is cool but it lacks the cool stuff. This also compromises interior a lot
@TheHungryRoad6 ай бұрын
Wait, this is the 4th gen? Lol. I thought it was the 3rd! 😂 Yeah, I don’t know much about the other gens and was terribly uninterested in them, but this new one is so beautiful. However the interior is weak like you said. Perhaps on upper trims or even the Prime, things are better.
@djplonghead54036 ай бұрын
@@TheHungryRoad I don’t really know about specific generations. I think this is the 5 generation but maybe the 6th in Japan… One of the generations had a screen that lifted to show the CD player. They had almost flat second row floors, etc,

@adamhaas3168. Gotta watch the whole video. Lol. But basically the rear taillights don’t come on automatically. They have to be manually turned on.
