Always good to have you try out a bike I would either not have the opportunity, time or inclination to? I like your comments, buzzy handle bars @ different rpms, heat off the engine, etc., while still being positive about the bike’s overall attributes, (price & size considered). Yes, we can complain about small deficiencies, nothing is perfect save for one lad. You’re doing great…..one of the best online!👍🏻Rola (Oregon / USA)

În my mind when you critique something you also have to keep in mind the purchase price and see if that product is as valuable as the asking price. A bike can have flaws if it's very cheap to buy and own, then again when you charge a high premium I expect perfection. This comes in at a very competitive price so it's acceptable to be lacking a bit of rafinament.

Thank you for such a nice review of the Triumph Speed 400.... I WANT ONE. I live in South East Ohio (USA) where we have many what you would call 'B" roads. We call them two lane State highways. The speed limits are usually 55 MPH (88KPH), Many times we have to travel the divided haighways to get where we want to go and the speed limits are 70MPH. I usually hold at 65 so the Speed 400 would be ideal for my area. The carzy thing is, I just sold a $37,000 Harley Tri-Glide and a Polaris Slingshot and now want a Speed 400. I was interested in a Speed Twin 900 but with only a five speed gear box it revs pretty high at 70 MPH and the Speed 400 I think would be a better ride for me and at HALF the cost. I've been debating between the red and the blue ones. But since I've had trouble over the years with three red motorcycles and two of my favorite bikes were blue.... I'm going for a blue one. Thanks again for this video, you helped me make up my mind. Ride safely and enjoy every journey.

That's awesome, you are going to experience the joy of riding a small bore machine, using all the power, going wide open throttle for the fun of it and in safety, the extreme fuel economy compared to big bikes and please don't be scared to take it on long road trips. Modern day small bikes are capable of iron butts without breaking a sweat.

@@RideWithAlex My wife and I have traveled over 350,000 miles on motorcycles and camped out most of the time in a 7X7 pup tent we carried on the luggage rack along with a sleeping bag and clothes. But due to my wife's poor health she can no longer ride with me. She has battle cancer eight times, had twelve surgeries, maxed out on chemo, radiation and cyber knife treatments. She is currently on immunotherapy treatments and will be every 28 days for the rest of her life. She is crippled now thanks to the last two surgeries and falls alot. Recently she fell and broke five ribs and one vertebra. She has three broken vertebras in all now. So she lives in a recliner and has a potty chair just inches away from her recliner. Life can change in a instant. The Speed 400 will keep me riding, but no more long trips or motorcycle vacations. I'll have to stay close to home because I am her 24/7 caregiver. I'll probably just stay in SE Ohio and maybe just use it to go grocery shopping and to run errands. But I least I'll still be riding. I plan to install a top box on the rear and a flyscreen and then jyst enjoy it. Thank you again for the video. Rude sage and enjoy every journey.

Keep riding at least every now an then it helps keep your mental health in one piece and you need that now, I've also gone through something similar unfortunately I lost her to cancer but riding kept me sane and I was able to be by her side until the very end and not brake down when she needed my help the most. My praires go out to you both and I hope for the best!

@@RideWithAlex We've alreadly been through something like this several years ago. Both our sons had Glioblastoma brain tumors. Our eldest survived the tumor but had a crippling stroke years later. After his stroke he could no longer clutch or shift his motorcycle, so I sold it for him and bought him a Can Am Ryker. So at least he is still riding. Our youngest son lived fifty one weeks after they found his brain tumor and died at age 23 on Father's Day 2002. That's when we started taking motorcycle vacations to get alway from it all. We mostly went to The Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive. But we also went to the Outer Banks, Chesapeke Bay Bridge, VIrginia beach, Cumberland Gap,, Cumberland Falls, and Lake Eire on the western part at Port Clinton and the eastern part at Geneva on the Lake. All this kept me from going completely crazy. Thank you for the reply.Ride safe and enjoy every journey.

The only thing I found lacking was the switch gear and some are having issues with the kill switch shutting itself off which would probably be very simple to address I’ve had older bikes with this from wear that were easy enough to deal with

A recall on a kill switch is simple and cheap for a manufacturer. I know it's annoying but it's something fixable on the side of the road so you can still make it home.

dude..200 kg? :)) 400 cc maxi-scooters have 200-210 kg. This 400 cc naked bike has about 160-170. My old 310 cc was about 160 kg.. It's a nice looking motor, really liked it, but in its first 2-3 gears it seemed a bit twitchy.. Had to drive it in 4th-5th to make it smooth (outside, not in the city). But it has an easy handling, good brakes, nice position and seems great for beginners.

Dude, this motorcycle weighs 170 kg. But, because it has those crash bars and probably other little extras, it can add around 10 more kilos to it. Anyway, all the specs are available online. The video is more about riding experience. If Alex did not mentioned the exact weight, it's not so relevant. Just like your comment.

My first ride experiences I always try to do them without knowing much about the bike in terms of spec. I just looked now and yes it's 170kg and it had the crash bars so probably about 180kg as I rode it. It felt a little bit heavier then that but not necessarily as "heavy hard to keep upright" it felt more as in "heavy means well built, solid and stable on the road". And as a beginner bike it's really awesome. The twitchiness might be down to the gearing, if I remember right there was quite a gap between 2nd and 3rd, the gears were a bit too far apart in terms of ratios but it did give the bike a good sprint in 1st and 2nd.

When you buy a Royal Enfield, you get a Royal Enfield. You buy this Triumph (not all, just this one and it s brother) and you get a Bajaj with Triumph design and badging. Triumph makes some spectacular bikes, rode this one early this year and I was thinking… if people think this is a Triumph, they won t like Triumphs anymore, and that would be a shame cause they really have some gems out there.

Yes but there is also a 5000 price difference I agree with what the triumph provides with its bonnie and scramblers but this is something that can give u a experience of a good street bike at a low price not the same as a speed twin or 120

The whole point of my first ride videos is to know as few stats as possible and let the bike talk me and give you a raw first impression. This is not a review, my reviews are well documented. I said the bike feels like something arround 200kg, if that's good or bad you decide, In this first ride I don't care how much it weighs I said how heavy it feels when you first get on it :)
