because men's didn't qualify for teams event at Olympics. women's qualified for teams which requires 3 players while the men's didn't. US Men's only has chance at getting singles spots at ITTF Americas Olympic Qualification in Lima, Peru, which will take place from May 14-18. Kanak Jha and Nikhil Kumar have to fight for a spot to play. And for singles events, there is a max of 2 players per country who can compete. So Kanak Jha and Nikhil Kumar both have to fight for a spot to compete at the olympics at that qualifier. So even for women's if I'm not mistaken, Lily Zhang and Amy Wang will play in both singles and team, while Rachel Sung will only play for teams event.
