Great to see Oli back in form. Myers did great but just kicked a little early with a bold move, if he hugged the rail like Centro and timed his kicked a bit later when the pack splits up on the bend he could have won. Fun to see him put it all on the line and take some risks.

The patience of Centro in that race was masterful.

He got boxed in and had to do quite a bit of work in the last lap to get out to a lane where he had to do a lot of work for that third place. Not sure that was by design.

Let’s note a high schooler had the lead with 200 meters to go, and ran a 3:35.59 which would have be the 14th fastest performance, all-time, if he was a collegiate athlete in the USA, but it wasn’t even his PR, slower by more than a second.

Meyers is looking promising, even though he faded out at the end there, but that was probably lack of experience more than anything - he's still so young. It's hard timing a kick right especially in a bit pack like that.

the story here is ollie is annoyed he missed the olympic time 3.33.5. that's what he's been chasing at different meets. he has the placement from coming 2nd at his trials but not the time yet. it's a shame the commentators missed this

They kept saying the aussies are in peak shape because of their championships but that really only applies to maybe Cam and Jesse Hunt right? They’re the only ones that train in Australia, but even so, they’re going to peak their seasons around the summer diamond leagues and the Olympics. Not to mention Olli is training in Boulder so he’s fully on the European DL/olympics cycle. Yes he raced in Aussie champs, but that was like one of his first race of the season

3:34/5's.....I can empathize with these guys, all probably in heavy training at present with peaking for the Olympics forefront in their thoughts......You will your legs to move faster but they are leaden from training....but each will be better for this race under their belt, in 6 weeks they will be running low, or even sub 3:30 (especially exciting for Cam and Reynold)

Centro has to stop relying on a slow tactical race and trying to out kick everyone. He need to stay in connect in/near the front (and not get trapped on the rail) and he'll be able to use his kick more efficiently.
@staceman79814 ай бұрын
Whatever, this is his last hurrah! He doesn't have any chance to compete for a medal at the Olympics because that final is going to be well under 3:30. Centro is just enjoying his last year. Given how weak the USA is in the 1500M, he has a chance of a tactical race at the trials, and could possibly make the team. But even if he makes the team, he can only hope to advance to the finals at the Olympics as a best result. He would not be a factor in the finals for the medals. But can't blame him for wanting one last run at team USA and the Olympics.
@PaulJohnson-zk1yr4 ай бұрын
@@staceman7981how is the u.s. weak right now? Teare 3.32, Hocker 3.30, Kessler just ran 1.45, nuguse 3.43 mile.....that's pretty friggin good for any country!
@staceman79814 ай бұрын
@@PaulJohnson-zk1yr nguse is a legit threat for sure, but all the others have no chance at a medal and likely will struggle to make the final. By USA standards that is weak. Only Neuse has adapted to the new reality in the 1500m. Fast from the gun. All the others require a tactical sit and kick. Thus.....they have no chance.
