Hey guys that was a pretty cool review, I'd say much better than many of the big names on KZbin. I've owned 6 EVs including a Tesla model y long range, hundai ioniq 5 AWD preferred, Polestar 2 dual motor with pilot pack, a genesis gv60 perforance, an id4 AWD pro s, and a Chevy Bolt. I have to congratulate you on making a big deal over buttons. It can't be stressed enough how important buttons and knobs and levers are. Anyone who argues otherwise I would question their driving skills. From a driving safety point of view there is no debate. With that being said, the id4 is my second LEAST favorite vehicle when it comes to ergonomics (lack of buttons) Tesla being BY FAR the WORST, but overall my id4 is my second FAVORITE eCUV overall behind my genesis, which is an 80k cdn car. I agree with the lady, the id4 feels luxurious because it drives so nicely, it loses points feeling luxurious because of lack of buttons. My Polestar was my favorite ev overall but I won't compare it in this case as it was a sport sedan and a completely different segment. I found the id4 has a nicer ride than my ioniq 5 and overall feels more substantial so that's why I like the id4 over the i5. My Bolt is a wonderful city car, it has buttons galore and is zippy and easy to drive around town but kinda sucks on the highway. One thing I do need to correct you on tho. The guy mentioned the id4 is fast but not Tesla fast. The correction is that it is faster than a model 3 single motor and model y single motor and almost exactly the same as a model y long range dual motor. So it is Tesla fast, just not in the league of the performance branded Tesla's or the plaids etc.

I actually just bought, well leased, the Kona Electric top-trim here in Australia it even came with a spare tire(space saver) as my second EV, first was the original classic 28kWh Ioniq. Great comparison guys. I'm totally with you about buttons, not overdone on buttons as some cars can be but the Kona is a good balance. The ID.4 has that huge panoramic sunroof and in summer hate to think how much heat goes through that whereas the Kona has a normal sunroof that opens and has a cover to close it off from the sun. The other thing in the ID.4 is the questionable software from VW. When did Canada come out with their own efficiency rating I always remember using EPA growing up which is the closest to real world of all the testing schemes whereas NEDC/CLTC are off in fairy-land and WLTP is still in fairyland but less so and EPA is closest to real world that I"ve seen. The ID.4 or any MEB platform car are not available yet in Australia beyond the Cupra Born which is the better ID.3.

Especially if you come from and ICE car, these brands are so easy to switch to as the handling and interface is similar to conventional cars. No need to use the screen for every bit and the information is directly in front of you.

Thanks for the Canadian review comparison. 1. The ID.4 window button is a common talking point but I don't believe it warrants any time. I've just as much trouble with the window switches on my Kia Soul where I often roll down the rear windows by accident while operating it by feel. 2. The ID.4 is a very capable towing vehicle and that is quite an advantage over the Kona.

Every reviewer complains about the fact there are just two window buttons. In my current 6 year old Honda with four buttons I can’t remember the last time I needed to open the rear windows. I have probably done it more by accident than intentional. I actually prefer just the two buttons.

To put into some prospective manufacturing costs. You mentioned window buttons and that they couldn’t cost that much When I worked in the automotive manufacturing industry nearly forty years ago, if you came up with an idea that saved more than three pennies per vehicle (I live in the UK) the company would give you a brand new car.

The ID4 AWD at that price point should be compared to the Ionic 5….or compare the lower trim and smaller battery ID4

I appreciate the review, but why didn't you compare the similarly specced ID4?
