I own the Ioniq5 Limited model, and even purchased the auto door lock kit from you recently. I randomly bumped into this video after just purchasing the base model ID.4. And I have the exact same comments and complaints as you do. We got the ID.4 as a family car, and honestly I don't feel like I missed much from the base trim to the Pro S. I don't have the sunroof, which is fine with me, but I think that helps with reducing the noise, as I didn't have an issue with noise. I wish it had levels of regenerative breaking like the Ioniq5 does, as I was used to the Level 3 resistance when you let go of the acceleration. My main gripe was the infotainment system. As it wasn't terrible, but it definitely felt like it was lacking. Seeing your video let me see the potential it had and the main thing that I missed out on. I do wish that the ID.4 had some warning sounds for blind spots, as the Ioniq5 does. Well, at least the base model doesn't have that. But, I was very surprised at all the stuff that were included in the base model. You hit the nail on the head, when saying that the ID.4 feels like it was made for someone that likes their gas powered vehicles, as it does definitely feel that way. The Ioniq5 is still my favorite car, but the ID.4 is definitely a great electric family car, and I'm glad that we got it. I love the auto on feature on the ID.4. But, as a family car, I'm hoping to find some hack to keep the car on, especially as we want the car to stay on while our kids are in the backseat.

Recently bought the 2024 ID4 Pro S RWD. It was down to the ID4 and a 2024 Ioniq 5 SEL RWD. It was such a tight call that my husband and I actually sat down with pro/con lists on both vehicles. Which ultimately didn't help much, but it was that close of a call. Both are excellent vehicles. For my husband, the kicker was that the Ioniq didn't have a rear wiper, which I agree is an odd choice. I really wanted the i-peddle driving, but in the end the turning radius won out.

@@debrawyza3217 Re: Turning radius. I have a ‘23 ioniq Limited (all wheel drive) and that one of those things I’m scratching my head about. Maybe the rear wheel version of my car is better, but I quickly learned not to try to make quick maneuvers in busy areas, like I used to do with my Golf GTI. It’s like a three point turn half the time! Even my partner’s Cayenne (which does have rear wheel steering) kills my car in the turning radius category. I hope they address that with the 2nd generation Ioniq.

it is a capacity steering wheel if you have Travel Assist...(I have the ID3 here in france). you just have to squeeze it a bit - the beeping also starts if you dont seem to be alert
@wickedmessenger13 ай бұрын
The steering wheel is capacitive. When it says "take control of the steering" it wants you to grab the steering wheel a little firmer. It does not require any steering input on your part, it just couldn't sense your hand on the wheel at the time. I drive in that mode as often as possible and I love it. In a few rare situations, it quit steering completely because it couldn't tell what the lanes were (it was in an area of interstate road work). Otherwise, I often am at the wheel for a few hours where I did absolutely nothing. If it didn't require my hand on the wheel, I could be in the back seat sleeping .

No name calling!!!! The Ioniq guy is a great guy. 😎 by the way great video. The charging is ridiculous- 10 to 80% should never be more than 18 minutes. Shame on them especially it’s a $50,000 plus car. The Germans know a lot better than to leave you at a charging station for 40 minutes….. German engineers are the best in the world. If I had bought that car in the summer of 2022 when it became available, five months after my Ioniq 5, I would not have been happy spending an hour at the DC charger to go from 10 to 80%. The price was very good in Connecticut because not only would I have qualified for the 7500 federal income tax credit but I would’ve qualified for $2250 rebate from the state of Connecticut. The price of the ID4 in late 2021 or early 2022 to do a pre-order, were good. Did you print cup holders?

The ID.4 does have a capacitive steering wheel. I would love a more detailed A-B comparison between the ID.4 and the Ioniq 5. I will replace my 2021 ID.4 in the next 6 months, and these two cars are the only ones on my list. Of course, in 6 months we should have the refreshed Ioniq 5 in the U.S. (the one with the rear wiper) and hopefully a '25 ID.4. If I had to buy right now, I'd probably choose the Ioniq 5, because it has a 360 degree camera available on its top trim. This is also true for the '24 ID.4, only you can't buy the top trim '24 ID.4 in the U.S. (that would be the so-called Pro S Plus). Thanks for making these videos. I am starting to explore your channel to learn as much as I can about the Ioniq 5.

Another thorough review. You might do one with similar comparisons between the Ford MachE and the Ioniq5. I wish the EVs were more efficient. We have a 2019 Kia Niro EV and we are having a difficult time finding anything newer/slightly larger with four miles per kilowatt of efficiency.
@BremerFischkoop3 ай бұрын
The B - mode is not the most efficient mode. You will save more energy when the car is sailing without using the motor. The reason is that recuperation has losses. So some amount of your kinetic energy will not be available for making some miles.

So many KZbin "reviewers" complain about the window switches... As an owner, I disagree. I seldom, if ever need to roll down the rear windows. On the four button configuration, I can't count the number of times I've accidentally rolled down the rear windows! That's more of an annoyance than having to toggle between front and rear windows. I've got an ID4, and I consider it an improvement. I also think the doors feel solid when closing. I could live without the piano black trim though.
@petertanzer48134 ай бұрын

VW decided to not put a heat pump in the American version of this car. I’m not sure why it’s a good idea to have one in Europe but not necessary here.
