The other four athletes who took second to fifth have set the standard for excellence in the 2024 CIF-SS Finals as well, and their performances remind us all what happens when heart, passion, and hard work come together. They didn’t just run-they ran with purpose-and showed us all that greatness is made one race at a time. Keep an eye on these names-they’re just getting started! Best wishes, kindest & sincerest regards for epic success i mean

When the race started, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that Sadie Engelhardt wasn’t just running for the finish line-she was running for history. And that’s exactly what she made-history. In the blistering heat, through every uphill battle, and every down-to-the-wire stride, er? i mean? Sadie proved that determination, heart, and relentless spirit carve the path to greatness i meant to say.

I'm glad Sadie stayed conservative, I'm sure she would love to do better during nxn with more fresh legs!

What a debacle at NXN😡. Today all these California State Champion girls got their lunch handed to them at Portland by the girls from Colorado, Utah and the Midwest. Rylee Blade, Holly Barker, Abigail Errington, Hanne Thomsen....None of them could even make top 10. Sadie was even beaten by Ella Hagen from Summit HS in Breckinridge Co who spends a lot of time training for her school's cross-country ski team? I blame the CIF for scheduling this state meet too close to NXN where as all these other girls had at least 2 weeks to recover from their regionals. I don't know why Ventura HS coach Josh Spiker had Sadie running that Michigan work-out on the track recently. IMO it was worthless in preparing her for Portland's conditions. I haven't yet seen any post race interviews of Sadie explaining what happened today. Team wise, only Clovis seem to show up yet even then if Air Academy's 5th girl wasn't so ridiculously slower than the first 4 Clovis wouldn't have been on the podium. What happened to "hyped" Trabuco Hills? Mountain Vista aka "Denver" and Utah's Lone Peak schooled them. The only way California will stop failing at NXN is for the SS CIF meets to run lots of water trucks to create mud on the fire roads and utilize wet, slippery grassy courses on hilly golf courses in other words real European style cross-country races!
