Parker is the first and only NCAA woman to run under 15:00 outdoors. Given that this was the second half of a long double, emotionally draining being her last collegiate race, and in warm and very humid conditions, this was a very impressive performance. Incredible year for PV and coaches Palmer!

@@CCat52 I was in Eugene to watch the Prefontaine Classic 2 weeks ago. Even then, the stands were less than half full. It is a beautiful state of the art facility, but the U of O has made a major marketing mistake. The trackside stands(especially back straight) are almost completely empty because they are more expensive. The upper stands are still not cheap($100) and half full. They need to close the upper stands and cut the price for track side in half. As it is now, there is no crowd noise to cheer athletes. Record Wise... The Africans at least . Many American women with the standard are injured this year. However many of the races are not at record pace they are 20 to 60 seconds faster as the pros often use elbows timing strategy blocking trapping team work and then kick at the end. At 15:14 she says, “I’m tired!” At 15:15 the clueless commentator says, “Have you guys noticed she’s not tired at all?” 🙄

Jesus christ that's just so impressive. I'm a dude who won MVP on my high school XC team with a PB of 16:38. Parker would have beaten me by nearly 2 minutes......

If she had started off strong and went right to the front she would have made that time 😩 still an amazing run she’s got this!

Parker is fantastic she finally got out of the shadows of Caitlin Toohey... Parker has a great future and she looks good running she's very beautiful...Parker may have not been as good as she is without Caitlin pushing her and making her look bad... I hope both girls have a great future...

@@icarus8471 Parker does an extreme amount of "running" on an elliptical trainer. This type of training may revolutionize the sport of distance running. I think the "doping" claim is an easy out.

Oh please. There is always an "explanation". Now "revolutionary training". She had a massive jump in performance and does not show natural fatigue. She is doping.

@@icarus8471 Tuohy Maybe? Hilda Maybe? The pros from Africa running 2 minutes faster, the 7 faster Americans? Definitely not Parker that's disrespectful she worked hard to win and still did not qualify for the 10000 5000 or any oly.hikfa and tuihy are a little over 10 to 20 seconds behind. Heck a couple high schoolers are not far away in the 5000 at 15 years old 15.25

why is the resolution of these broadcast so crappy? a lot of artifacts and pixelation. You'd think they'd have some decent cameras in 2024, and not using their 2006 ones?? FFS

So, I ain't buying the .2 of a second. That is microscopic on a 5k. BUT, as far as clocks and crossing finish lines are concerned, it doesn't matter if it is 10k or 100M. .2 seconds on a 100M race...imagine the reaction to that error. It's the same transaction essentially...runner crosses line. Clock it right. You have MORE time to size up the finish with ONE runner traveling slower than a 100M. .2 of a second correction should be thrown out. Take the initial time. That statistically is a failure. Again, even though .2 on just under 15 minutes is nothing...the clock needs to be accurate to sufficiently time 100M. That's the difference between a WR, and not placing. In the US and Jamaica, it might be the difference between a Gold and WR, vs staying home for the Olympics. Depending on the group that year. Male and Female. Can't have that. So the clock function shouldn't care about the race length...it needs to nail it much closer than this. I'd say she got the 14:51.98. No gift. Just legit. Longer races shouldn't be afforded that kind of margin for error. That .2 mattered.
