When it comes to looks, I'm kinda on the fence here. MT's face looks so robotic, while Duke's headlamp looks unfinished. What do you think?
@lohchenghuat638810 ай бұрын
Looks wise, I'd have to give the win to the MT. But just ever so slightly. Although the new robot/Ironman face headlights isn't the most outstanding design, but if you compare it to the previous weird, quirky, some may say outright ugly "cyclops face" headlights, the new design is much more acceptable and palatable to a wider segment of riders. Meanwhile the Duke just looked like KTM took Suzuki's headlights and attached four LED bars around it and voila. Also, those cavities between the DRLs and the main lights are going to be such dirt and dust trap or worse, cob web housing if you lived at regions with harsh winter, you're inevitably going to have off season for riding and have to park you bike for a couple of months in your garage

I'd choose MT 09 anyday of the week mainly because of the sound. Plus all the bells and whistles comes as standard with Yamaha. Which is a bad move for KTM, all the extras comes with a price like c'mon.
@Drunken_Hamster9 ай бұрын
IDK man, I'm on the fence. Every time I think triples get it, I go back to decatted 890 vids and FTR1200 Toce vids and cream. Then I go back for MT-09s with Yoshimura, RoadsItalia, Two Brothers(the modern stainless megaphone one), Black Widow, M4, or Arrow exhaust and feel like I'm insane. Triples definitely sound like more of a rush, making me feel like a Street Rossi, but the brutal sound of the 285 and 300-degree parallel (75 and 60-degree V, respectively) twins make me feel like Brock Lesner.

you can get the MT09 SP for around the same money as the KTM also, which will have ohlins rear suspension, KYB upgraded forks, and Brembo brakes if i am not mistaken.

@@MakTheSank The WP suspension on the 990 is pretty high spec, probably greater spec than the SP kit, which isn't the advanced version of Ohlins but basic (and that is only rear shock). The Stylema Brembo calipers are a top notch upgrade for the SP.

Ktm has more torque, agility, and originality. The 990 with its 2 cylinder engine is built differently and packs a punch. MT 09 sales records talk for themselves. Japanese quality build. MT 09 delivers on every level. But if you want x factor! The duke 990 is in a class of its own. Built to perform like it's bigger brother the duke 1390 at a lower price and lower kerb weight. 990 is an animal that gets my vote!

Just SAD that ALL THE UNIQUE SELLING POINTS of the MT-09 got eliminated. In 2023, it was the last upright naked bike that people over 1.85 m (6.1feet) could still right comfortably on, that didn't look like an insect but like a Transformer and that still had a subframe/pillion footrests with luggage attachment points, as well as the option of fitting a windshield. I like every of the other Transformer light masks in the MT series better than this new one. For the GEN 3 to 2023, Givi and Shad had hard case mounts for larger cases, than on a standard GS in their linup and you could attach a large windscreen to the light mask. The subframe load capacity has been removed from the MT-10 from 2021 to 2022 and now from 2023 to 2024 for the MT-09 as well. It's a pity that none of the reviews mention this. If the display becomes so large that it protrudes forward over the light mask, you can no longer retrofit a windscreen. Who convinced the manufacturers that naked bikes have to be made for the racetrack? I've been riding an MT-09 for 30,000 kilometres in 2.5 years and love this engine. With in the commuteabilty gone, the last real UJM is unfortunately dying in my eyes.

With all due respect and solely for the purpose of putting out completely correct information, not for the sake of critiquing, I am putting out the following remarks regarding the electronics suite: - Yamaha's Back Slip Regulator (BSR) is the equivalent of KTM's Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC). KTM issued it in 2013 and it is now an integrated software part of their Motorcycle Slip Regulator (MSR) system, the equivalent of Yamaha's Slide Control System (SCS). That means that if a KTM has MSR, it also has MSC. To sum up, - Anti slide system: SCS (Yamaha), MSR (KTM) - Anti Slip System: BSR (Yamaha), MSC (KTM) The KTM has every technology feature that the Yamaha also offers plus launch control, as long as you are willing to pay for it. Happy rides, everyone.
