Nice review! I have a YT Capra Uncaged 10 and the bike are amazing! So...I just ordered another bike from YT, but this time the Jeffsy Uncaged 13 with the "old-school theme". The YT summer sale is crazy good right now!

Hey there, thanks for the review. I’m encouraging my friend to consider the 2024 Jeffsy core 3 since it’s on sale for a killer price right now. Are you riding at Fort Ord? I feel like I recognize the locale. Thanks!

Great video and review. I literally have had this bike in the shopping cart for a couple weeks and just need to pull the trigger. Watching you ride the same trails I do probably pushed me over the edge. I'm right on the boarder of Medium vs Large as well at 5'9" and was planning on a medium. Our riding styles seem similar, any regrets on getting the large?
@Ricks-Rides4 ай бұрын
@@jeffdahl8292 hey man, looks like they dropped the price even more than when I bought it 😳. I’m very happy/comfortable on the large. I think you would be as well. Plus the large comes with the 170mm dropper post instead of 150mm if that helps your decision at all.

Great review. I’m ordering a Jeffsey as a soon as they are available again. Do you think there is any value in getting the Core 5 over the Core 4 if it can be budgeted?
@Ricks-Rides4 ай бұрын
Awesome. Man, my personal opinion is no. The Core 5 has the XO transmission instead of the GX which doesn't add much value to me, they both work the same, the XO is just lighter. All the other components including brakes look about the same besides the Fox suspension with Kashima that comes on the Core 5. I think the RockShox which you get on the 4 work so much better, but that's just my preference and based on my experience with both. Now the Uncaged 14 model which is the same price as the Core 5... I would be tempted by that one cause it's super cool, but performance-wise for the average rider i think you get the best bang for your buck with the Core 4.

@@Ricks-Rides I picked up the new Jeffsy Uncaged 14 and am soooo stoked on it. The build is incredible and the paint job is stellar. I especially love the XT derailleur (most reliable drivetrain ever), the Hayes Dominion A4 Brakes, and the Olin's suspension. So much more bike than the price tag would indicate. Best value out there in my opinion. I was on the fence between the Santa Cruz Hightower, the Ibis Ripmo, and the Jeffsy and am so glad I went with the Jeffsy. It climbs way better than I imagined (like an XC bike), but punches way above it's weight class on the downhill. Especially with the Olin's TTX2, such a good shock. Feels more like 160 instead of 145. Still haven't found the bottom yet. Sweet to see a channel showcase the Ada County trails. I am a Boise native that just recently moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon, and while the trails out here are way bigger, steeper, chunkier, and mostly better, I still miss the Boise foothills trails and the Eagle bike park. So fast and flowy. For those interested: www.yt-industries.com/products/bikes/jeffsy/uncaged-14/731/jeffsy-29-uncaged-14/

...I'm not familiar with YT bikes so I hope these aren't too crazy of questions...Do YT bikes come with a lifetime frame warranty...???...the geometry is very similar to the Yeti 140 Lr and the Santa Cruz HighTower but I'm not sure what type of suspension the YT uses compared to the Yeti switch infinity and the Santa Cruz vpp...I did notice an additional pivot point in the frame on the Jeffsy front of the rear axel, (interesting)....also have you had any problems with the pressed in bottom bracket on your previous YT bikes...most bikes now are threaded bottom brackets...and lastly is there anything you would change or wish they had done different on this bike...my last three bikes (all Santa Cruz) were purchased used, I couldn't justify the prices they were asking new ... the pricing YT has definitely makes this bike a smart value purchase...tia...
@Ricks-Rides5 ай бұрын
Hey, great questions. They come with a 5 year frame warranty. YT uses a "Virtual Four Link" suspension system on their bikes. Nothing fancy, which I prefer because it is simple and it works. I don't personally see any benefit to the Yeti switch infinity, just another expensive component to have to worry about and service. I had a creaky bottom bracket on 2018 Jeffsy, so I replaced it. The other 2 have had zero issues. Nothing I would change on the Core 4 version except the brakes. I have not found another bike that comes close to YT value, especially with them being on sale right now. Just know you have to have some basic mechanical skills and will need to put part of the bike together when it is shipped to you and you can't take it right back to the shop you bought it from if there are any issues.

For stuff like the last trail with "techy" stuff, rocks, some drops but no big jumps like you did in the first part would a izzo be enough? 130mm seems short. I only have a 100m hardtail that I always bottom out We don't do bike parks but we may try some one day Also, I'm afraid of the carbon frame resistance, can it still survives some crashes ?
@karma27456 ай бұрын
can we do some decent jumps and stuff on jeffsy like on capra ?
@Ricks-Rides6 ай бұрын
Hey, yes definitely! I tried to show that as best as I could. The trail I ride at time stamps 8:30 and 12:30 has some pretty big jumps, they just don’t look as big with the GoPro. If you’re doing downhill lift served stuff the Capra would be better. For trail jumps and dirt jumper type jumps I actually prefer the Jeffsy!

Do you find it climbs better than the core 3 previous jeffsy? My wife always found hers a bit bouncy with the fox float in the rear.
@Ricks-Rides5 ай бұрын
I would say it climbs about the same. I set my suspension pretty stiff and I don't notice the shock being too bouncy, but that's just me.
@chaynech15 ай бұрын
@Ricks-Rides@Ricks-Rides good to know . Right now the biggest complaint with her previous version core 3 is she does not get along with fox. Especially with the fork, I feel like you have to be aggressive and have some mass. We end up really lowering her pressure but then it gets her in trouble on the big hits. Find it just doesn't have the suppleness like the Lyrik. I have the super deluxe and Lyrik on my stumpjumper evo and it feels amazing.
@Ricks-Rides5 ай бұрын
@@chaynech1 Make's total sense. I've had that same experience with Fox. I watched 20 videos on how to set up the fork and never got it quite right. Either too harsh and stiff, or too light and you bottom out and lose trail responsiveness like what you're describing. My bandaid fix was to turn down the compression a bit, but put in a little extra air. That's honestly the main reason I jumped on the new Core 4 with RockShox - and it's so much better. Sounds like she's a great rider! Wonder if you could find a used Rockshock Pike or something and swap it out if you can't get it dialed?
@chaynech15 ай бұрын
@@Ricks-Rides yeah. We were thinking of that, but also with the amazing deals YT is currently having it probably would work out to a similar spend. Not to mention the transmission drivetrain and revised longer dropper.

Depends on what type of trails you ride (sandy, muddy, rocks, etc) but the Maxxis Minion DHF and DHR are on the bikes and popular for a reason.
