At 27:10 🙏 for emphasizing why Acura built this car. 💯 spot on. Type S is tamed & mature version of Type R.

There are a lot of apologists for this car. I’m a Honda fan. I’ve owned a 96 Integra, an RSX, and two Type Rs. I gave serious consideration to the Integra type S when it was released, but it just doesn’t set itself apart from its cheaper sibling and it is not a luxury vehicle. Although wildly, different cars, my Mazda CX 30 turbo was purchased for 40 K out the door. In that car, I get an auto lifting hatch, HVAC in the rear seats, a heating steering wheel as standard, and memory seating for the driver seat. It also has a sunroof, but I’m not going to knock the type S for the omission of a sunroof. But when it comes to luxury, the type S is a pretty poor luxury car. Had the Integra included AWD and a bit more power to account for the added weight, I’d argue the price increase of the Type S would be worth it. There’s just not enough to separate it from its cheaper sibling to justify the cost.

It is a premium sport hatchback rather than a luxury car. Additionally, Acura will continue to uphold the reputation that Integras are the most enjoyable front-wheel drive vehicles. I understand the features it lacks but all of that goes right through the window once you drive one.

@ I did drive one, that’s the biggest reason I own an FL5. I actually had no intention of buying the FL5 (wanted out of my FK8). But after spending time in both cars, the Type S was less thrilling. The seats were pretty bland and provided little bolstering. The gauge cluster was of a base civic quality. Up close the tacked on rear flares looked pretty cheap and they weren’t well done. The body lines where the fender, bumper and hood meet were slightly misaligned. And the added length was noticeable when parking the car. Semantics…even as a “premium sport hatchback” it’s not all that premium. My CX-30 turbo (again, wildly different and purely my grocery getting, kayak carrying, dog transport) has 250hp, a heads up display, a Bose sound system, full leather interior, all the safety features and warning systems, and has a well designed interior. That car has a premium feel. It’s also 15k cheaper but has MORE “premium” features than the Type S. Not apples to apples, I know. When I sat in the Type R it felt better. Better seats, better gauge cluster. No tacked on plastic flares. And then I drove it and that sealed it. For less money I could own the same car. It’s that simple. The Type S just doesn’t offer anything that justifies its price. Quite the opposite. I went looking for a Type S because I loathed the look of the FL5…after driving a Type S I own an FL5..

@@mrnrfan182 I've been looking real hard at the Type R and I agree that I don't see what this car offers above the Honda for more money, now I will say this, if Acura is selling these at MSRP vs a FL5 where dealers are adding 10k then the Acura would be a better deal at sticker because they would cost the same basically. I'm not paying 10k over for the Honda and there are plenty sitting at the dealers in my area but they insist people are knocking the doors down to buy them, but the same cars have been sitting on the showroom floor for months now🤨 The buyers for these cars is a rare breed, must know how to drive a manual, and who is going to daily drive a Type R with those seats and that suspension??? Not the average human! I'll wait.

@@mrnrfan182I also drove both, yes Type R was more thrilling. BUT! Type S is if u want 90% Type R experience without the weird looks frm other parents when dropping off kids at school, or meeting clients. It’s a lifestyle/age choice, not one fits for all.
@mrnrfan18220 күн бұрын
@@trackeagle6013 if weird looks from parents dictates how you spend your money, so be it. But the FL5, minus the wing, is more subtle than the Type S. What you really mean is you want to say you own an Acura instead of a Honda. I technically have nothing against the Type S. I was deep into negotiations for a white Type S with bronze wheels for 1k under MSRP. What swung me were my points above. It’s not as well out together. Body panels were misaligned on a brand new car. Cheap plastic flares. Worse interior. No true benefit in performance. And unnecessarily longer…all for more money! I’ve never cared what other people think of my car. And honestly, of the cars I’ve owned, the only one to truly stop people in their tracks and get attention is my Miata. People LOVE that car. I can’t gas up without someone asking about it. But my FK8 and FL5…no one has said a word. No one cares.

Both my 2007 and 2008 TL Type S have ELS sound system. Huh 16 and 17 year old technology finally on the Integra 🤔. It’s a beautiful Integra but Waaaay behind In bringing innovation technology inside the car. Honda biggest Knock is their rein giving us more horsepower.Hp on that car should’ve been easily 360hp

Acura really is a disappointing brand currently. I’m sure it’s greedy people at the very top who are at fault but really?? This is supposed to be a luxury Type R and it’s missing features the sport touring Civic has at $21,000 less. $21,000 LESS. No power adjustment for passengers, arguably worse seats than the type r, No ventilated front seats, No heated rear seats, No memory seats, No rear arm rest or third seat ?????, No rear air vents, No rear usb ports, no moon roof, no fog lights, no rear window wiper💀, and no heated steering wheel standard. On top of that for $52,000 no auto folding mirrors, AWD, Bigger infotainment screen (accord one), and no (at least optional) auto closing hatch. Jesus what a wash for the price. This thing fails to justify its existence with the type r existing. And even the Type R is overpriced imo.

Great performance car, but I have to agree for an Acura product and the price they're asking for it is very bone dry on the "luxury" amenities that are found on even basic cars nowadays. That is why we're seeing so many of them sitting on lots now, because the super enthusiasts have already bought them and now the average buyer, who doesn't care much about performance, isn't interested because of the lack of features for the price.
@mikeymyke25 күн бұрын
I think Honda as a whole, has been cost cutting a lot. For example, the 25’ Civic Hybrid fully loaded has no rear usb ports but the 22’ Civic Touring had them (how the fuck does a 2025 car not have rear connectivity). The previous generation Accord had an 8” screen standard, but the new accord has a 7” screen standard. The previous gen HRV had magic seats, new one doesnt.

@@SIIKAP1 “it’s missing a few things and it’s overpriced” That’s literally what the whole purpose of my comment is dufus. The car is a fun car to drive… Value wise it sucks ass so I absolutely will criticize that. “Very Whiney” how does that honda boot taste like? Without criticism these companies regardless of field will continue to give mediocrity at sky high prices. I like honda actually. I think they make great cars, (without price considered, the type R is amazing) recently they’ve understood people like you will buy whatever they put out despite cheaping out. This deserves criticism.
