Yes, in this day and age with car tech the way it is there is always going to be a less expensive corollary to the luxury model. Take the VW Atlas to the Audi Q7, or the RAV4 to the Lexus NX, etc. But there is a reason why the luxury versions of cars sell, and it’s to a different consumer. If you care about things like open pore wood, premium sound systems, higher quality leather, and more dramatic styling, then the luxury version will be for you. But if you are someone that doesn’t care about those things, you would be crazy to pay the premium.

@@hellkitty1014 It’s funny that you mention dealer experience. I am on my third Acura so clearly I like the products, but I find the dealers to be maddening. The salespeople know nothing about the product, the service department waiting area is too small and not nearly as comfortable as it should be, and every time I get service they try to charge me, and EVERY time I have to remind them I bought the Acura Care Maintenance package (which is a prepaid program that covers all recommended maintenance). Then they look it up and go “oh you are right”. It’s actually appalling service for a “luxury” brand. Plus, they are unable to order a car in the combination you want. You literally have to wait until they get one in, and they can’t tell you when that is. It just feels like a very cookie cutter experience with little to no personal touch.

Nothing was broken, however I understand Honda listen to reviewers more than customers as I have never been questioned as to what changes I want in my Acura or Honda products...example, I love controls in my 2020 2.0T Accord, but adding stupid looking volume nob because of nods reviewers complaining who had no intention of owning the products. Another is rather than touch and track pad which I prefer because I find it better on uneven roads and most occasions, yet again they follow reviewers who are not interested to purchase products only looking to make money to buy other vehicles. What us real customers want is more options and customization options more than red or black or white seats, like how about Grey, 2 brown, more colour stitching, or if I want white exterior and can get orchid interior...and improved technology like Acura used to be at top

@@MixedG80 adults sit in the 2nd row as well! As for the 3rd row, why does Acura MDX even have it if they are going to do it half-ass. Don’t defend them. This is a $76K vehicle and will be compared to everything else in that range. They did a nice job on the interior as a whole, but then dropped the ball. I leased two Acuras (TSX) back around 2010. Great cars but I went back to their Honda “cousin” because dollar for dollar the Honda was better equipped. I love the handling of the Acura but you could see Honda was putting more efforts into their main brand back then. Admittedly Pilots still do not have 2nd row ventilated seats even on the top trim while every other 3-row SUV does on their top trims. Money is money and I will go for the tech and features over a racy engine and handling any day, and without paying for premium gas! And even the guys pointed this out!
@MixedG806 ай бұрын
@@FunAtDisney I can only talk about my preferences and those with similar ones that have family including small kids. Adults will rarely ride in my back seat, and when they do, it likely won't be for any duration that will have them wondering why their seats aren't ventilated. The 3rd row isn't half-ass, it's what's possible without making the vehicle huge (which is precisely why I'm not really considering the new TX or larger vehicles), and will handle my kids (should adults need the 2nd row) or their little friends comfortably if I need to haul some around. If we really want to point out feature disparities, where are the [good] massaging seats in competing $76k models? Just me, but that was money much better spent (that will be used regularly) vs. cooling 2nd row seats. There will always be feature trade-offs, even when one spends in the stratosphere, but as it stands what Acura chose to invest in appeals best to what I'm looking for. Now to your point, why they changed the already outstanding ELS system is a mystery; that money could have gone towards ventilated 2nd row seats or any number of other tweaks, which is the real opportunity missed IMHO.

I really appreciate the update of the MDX, mostly the infotainment updates. The blue interior looks great(but cmon Acura, thats waayyy too much black piano plastic fantastic to considered in the luxury class). @FirstHillSeattle6 ай бұрын
I think the BMW is a different buyer. For one, it no longer offers a third row. For me personally, a BMW is a car you lease, and an Acura is a car you purchase and keep for a longer time. Maintenance on European cars will start to drain your bank account after about 5 years. Also, the MDX is quite a bit less expensive if you compare apples to apples. To get all of the features on the MDX Type S on an X5 it would much more expensive. I can afford the Type S, I will probably keep it 8 or 9 years and I like knowing I am getting the top model with all of the goodies. But another buyer might say that the BMW nameplate and performance is more important to them, and are willing to settle for less options. Two different approaches.

What kind of off-road can we talk about when this car now has such a huge front overhang and the turbine radiators and something else are located so low? I also dare to assure you that with such open radiator grilles you will be tired of washing them! And if you do not wash them, then after a certain time, not immediately, the engine will start to overheat, well, and then you yourself understand .... I would also like to note another "saving" from Honda - these are the rear turn signals - you could have made them even smaller! 🤦♂️ Why couldn't they put double LEDs in that long strip at the bottom, where the side lights are, like Audi does? This car already costs as much as a European premium class, but Honda is still thinking about how and where to save money!
@ambassador87162 ай бұрын
The seats have a massage function, but the lower cushion does not extend, it is quite lumpy, so your knees hanging in the air will quickly get tired if you drive a long distance. The gearbox button block is now practically on the dashboard, like in a minibus, which is very far. The gearbox control should be at hand, like on the 2016 model, instead there is a huge platform for the phone and some other incomprehensible niche for small items! 🤦♂️ For the same reason, this model has now lost the huge and, admittedly, very convenient box between the seats - instead of it there is some kind of cut-down box, to open it, you need to twist your right hand. And the bag now does not fit in there. I do not understand why they redo something that was good? Honda fired the person who was responsible for ergonomics? They should have improved the suspension, brakes, and build quality - the gaps between the body parts are so crooked that it looks like it was assembled by 3 drunk Mexicans after a serious accident! And this is a 70+K car.

@MixedG80 exactly, I hope the new system is a serious improvement. If it's only marginally better I'd say it's a waste

Why can’t you full screen the nav in the gauge cluster. Why does it have to be so small? Sure, they got rid of the track pad and the small side screen, but why do they have to “nickle and dime” their updates? It’s that and a few other issues that’s just lack-luster..It’s just still not there yet.

Why would they keep the piano black?? 😩 Can we bring back wood but just don’t make it look tacky

Don’t get me wrong engineering background I think the Acura MDXS type is very nice but I’m still gonna pass and get the BMW X5 M 60 I When you get it new there’s about a $20,000 price difference but when you get it used it’s less than a $10,000 difference For that $10,000 you get a V8 instead of a V6 and you get 500 hp instead of 350 on top of that your ranges 400 miles instead of 310 .

I think I’m gonna get 2023-2024 models to save a few bucks. The new wheels look hideous.

I don't see why the honda pilot cant have a 365hp engine with 400hp of torque, with 20+MPG,, unless its purely just to try to create a false scarcity for performance, which i beleive is the case.

Listen guys if auto manufacturers are going to add 3rd row, it shd accommodate adults
@michaelmi79036 ай бұрын
That's why I purchased a Lexus TX and didn't even consider an MDX. I needed a usable third row.
@AlaskanSnowLeopard6 ай бұрын
Minivan is the best way to go if you want really good 3rd row seating for adults. Even in a Chevy Tahoe, I don't like to sit in the 3rd row for longer trips. A Lexus TX 3rd row will be better than the Acura MDX 3rd row, but they both are still not very good for long trips for most adults.

Finally, a touchscreen!!! Touchpads and dials are lame. Lexus and Acura have surrendered. Mazda is the last hold out! 😆🤣

Incredibly disappointed. I’m a 2023 Honda Pilot Touring owner, this is a downgrade with no 3rd row ventilation on the third row. That’s not even safe for your kids rating here in Texas; that’s a saving grace for my kiddos, although I wish the vents were ceiling mounted in our 2023 Pilot. For this price second row seat ventilation should be standard. I honestly don’t know who this car is for. As cool as the Acura styling has gotten, I wouldn’t recommend for parents of 3 kids.

The MDX is such a weird car to me. The new one(base model) looks really nice and modern to me but for some reason there's also a huge soccer mom vibe about it despite how large and tanky it looks. I can appreciate the car when I see someone drive it because again its a slick looking car but I don't ever see myself owning one because of how large and slow the car is. In fact I exclusively avoid very large or heavy cars(anything over 3000lbs) now ever since I got to drive a decently light vehicle.
