The S3 is more refined, but the Golf R actually does have more options in comparison because all the options in the S3 are standard on the Golf R Golf R ncludes heated and ventilated seats, heated rear seats and steering wheel, as well as rear climate control.

We have a 2022 S3 and a 2023 Golf R. We love both. They are both excellent cars and my most favorite out of all the cars we have owned. S3 is more refined and looks better. R has more options for less money. They both drive incredibly well.

I traded a 2022 s3 for 2024 R. Sedans are not practical (e.g., I need room for golf equipment). So far I miss the s3 controls and like the R’s heated steering wheel more than I expected.

@vgasar I can't imagine that downgrade in the interior! S3 has an awesome cockpit with nice clicky buttons that is easy to use!

Love my golf R , the s3 is verry nice. But I'd pick the golf because its top trim of its class and I'd always have rs3 envy if i had an s3.. also i love hot hatches for the practicality. now the rs3 on the other hand 🥵 I'd def get a sedan for that..

I sure hope the S3 is better because the Golf R one is cheeks. Actually the speaker quality is not bad its just configured to not give any low and midrange through the door speakers making it sound like a tin can and the subwoofer underwhelming. If you use OBD11 to change the sound config to Fender instead of Harmon Kardon its sounds WAY better. At least better than the mid range B&O 640 watt 8 speakers on my Ford F-150.

Yeah always good to include in the review. From personal experience I can tell you the H/K in the Golf R is ok.

I have the Harmon Kardon in my 24 GTI SE and it took a while for the speakers to break in I’ve found that since I usually use my IPhone as source for my music and a simple change in the iPhone settings to “rock” made a noticeable difference in the final sound. Seems weird but I swear it’s better.

Just a quick note, the HP did get a bump for both the S3 and Golf R but the torque will stay the same as the outgoing models @ 295 ft lb, 310 ft lb for the European models only 😢
