I still don't care for the looks but the blue and white color scheme looks much better than the red and brushed metal look of the debut. I appreciate the humor - I like both of your approaches to evaluating bikes. You both ride far better than me. As for the bike ... My first reaction was 'Yuck!' But like a lot of things, once you've seen it a few times the initial reaction mellows. I'm still not a fan, but I'm a sport-touring rider, not ADV. BMW really likes to push the functional design edge. Personally, I can't see having bags attached to the sides my 30L tank. Speaking of those 30L ... a full tank must be tricky for off-road riding.
@kloppskalliАй бұрын
I got used to my top heavy Tenere, you'll get used to this easily. Also 30l of fuel is just 23,5 Kg. Not 30 Kg. That's just 8 Kg more than the standard GS plus the extra weight of the bigger tank, of course.

I was completely ready to upgrade from my GSA1250 2021. Tried the GSA1300 yesterday and completely lost interest in it. Yes it’s a little more agile, also value the improved gear ratio in 5th and 6th, but other than that I only discovered neutrals and negatives with it. Some of the negatives: low ride height and reduced max lean angle (scraped the footpegs several times by surprise), reduced comfort on highways (road mode), uninspiring engine/exhaust sound, alu panniers are less functional and flimsy, adaptive cruise control is pretty useless in dense traffics as it keeps far too long distance to the car ahead inviting other cars to go for the gap so you fall backwards in the line. The automatic gear is not a selling point either if you want a smooth ride. It’s of course a matter of opinion and preference. But I actually consider the 1250 a better and more refined bike to ride overall
@bsmuklerАй бұрын
I think it looks and sounds great and, just as with the previous model, owners will enjoy years of unpacking all the engineering goodness underpinning the bike. The R1250GSA seat height is actually 910 mm with the standard seat in the high position. I’m about your height and am comfortable with the seat in the lower position and can easily deal it in the high position, probably due in part to the uncanny balance of the GSA, notwithstanding the huge fuel load. I can’t wait to check out the new bike when it hits US showrooms next season. To state the obvious: Unless you need the 300-plus mile range, you can simply partially fill the tank to make it easier to get used to the bike.

I think if you are not a proficient rider, offroading with the 1300 GS(A) for us common folk means swtiching from asphalt to gravel (like shown in this video). Vast majority of the riders won't do the TET with these big bikes. What remains is tarmac and I think here is the actual strategy with the big GS: If you love crunching miles, take the GSA and play U-Haul on two wheels. If you stay within your contient, then take the GS. In both cases if you look for pure comfort take the variant with ASA and ACC. Two models, at least four distinct use cases. If you want to do the TET, go with the 900 GS.

A bit like when the new BMW M4 was introduced, everyone attacked the looks, but now I think its much better looking that the older models.
